Looks like no more Eribas , Hymer France have filed for Bankruptcy closing the production down of Eribas in France where they were made ,i know they were a nich market , but it is a shame when caravans that were quirky ,leave the market ,
If correct, what a great pity as they are a quality product, if limited to a niche market.
The UK I understand was a significant market for them but in our haste to print pounds we have made Euro products unaffordable; thus effectively removing this outlet for Hymer.
Its possible production could be moved to Germany as there is spare capacity at other factories. If you read the French Eriba forums it appears a large protest is being planned at the factory.
Eribas are going to be towed from all over France & park outside the factory to show solidarity with the sacked workers.
I would guess the majority of these Eribas will be over 20yrs old.....some irony there, methinks...
That's probably exactly the problem - Eribas last so well that no one needs to buy another! We complain about damp, and cracked panels, and flapping windows and soggy floors - so we go out and buy a newer van, and keep some (at least) British manufacturers in business!

Shame. We were hoping to buy a late model in the next few years after our freedom.
It won't make any difference, there will still be plenty of Eribas about. Hymer will continue to make spares, they still make them for 80s Eribae. Many people who buy an Eriba say it will be the last caravan they will ever buy!
The only certainty at the moment is that the French factory will close. Its quite possible that Eriba production could continue at another Hymer factory.

Only if it had to be new; Eriba is about the only van I would feel reasonably confident buying second hand as its unlikely to need a makers warranty. Not like so many others do from new?
Hymer have not stopped making eribas. Eriba France is in liquidation. They are going to close the french factory but at the moment it is still in production whilst they decide where to relocate too. The German parent company Hymer plans to relocate production to another of their sites possibly in The Netherlands or Germany.
We have one on order - a Triton. Made for the British market with 1200kg chassis and single beds which have an extension into the central aisle to get a wider bed. Jandis have been very helpful and I certainly hope that Eribas will be made for many years to come. Can't wait to get ours - middle of March all being well.
