Every time we cook breakfast or boil the kettle the smoke alarm goes off. If you re-set it, it triggers again within a minute or two. I have replaced it with a differrent one, but the same thing happens.
Is there a similar size device on the market that allows you to determine the re-set time instead of removing the battery?
Perhaps you should think about moving the alarm to a different place.
We had this trouble when our alarm was above the door to the kitchen. We then moved it to the other end of the lounge and now it only goes off when something really is amiss in the kitchen. IE, a pot burning dry or the toast overcooking.
If you contact your local fire station, they will send someone round (at no charge to you) who will advise you on the best places to site your fire alarms.

I am referring to the caravan and we did try moving it. Took longer before it responded but once it did, it then triggered ev ery 2 or 3 minutes. We mainly use a George to cook on with eggs done on the hob. No real smokey stuff, just steam I suppose. No issue with alarms at home.

Glad to see that we are not the only ones with the problem. Goes off even if omnivent and window near hob open.
we had a new van this year and the muppets had installed a standard household smoke alarm. This drove us mad as it goes off even when you just boil a pan of water.
replaced it with an optical alarm. These are just as sensitive, but work in a different manner. We havent had any false alarms since i put this up.
cost around a tenner, instead of the 99p one the dealer/manufacurer had installed.

Do you have a brand name for us as we are willing to try anything?
I take the battery out of ours when I get up each morning, put it back before bed! (I don't forget because I leave the cover of the alarm open and it's right over my head when I go to bed, so I see it and it reminds me to put the battery back in). Maybe not ideal, but at least it doesn't tell me the pans are boiling!!!

remove it and leave it loose, move the alarm round until it is far from the sink and cooker without going off.found on of the best places is on rear shelf at the back of the caravan. does not go off falsely now but it does jump onto the seat in transit.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.

You still have the battery fitted? I know that they are a good safety item but in a caravan they are a most impractical one if you ever do any cooking in the van it is inevitable that they will go off. So I have always removed the battery from the alarm as soon as I hevae taken delivery of a new van .

For a licence dated 1997 or later you must add together the plated max weight of the caravan and trailer, if the total is 3500 or less you can tow it. You may even tow a caravan with a MAM greater than the cars unladen mass the restriction was removed in 2013
