Don't know if anyone is interested but BCA have a small auction of caravans coming up at Measham on 12th Feb - 8 vans & a couple of motorhomes.

someone might get a bargain!

I think the BCA caravan auctions at Measham are closed invitation only trade auctions just for dealers, or has that changed?

we went a few years ago.no bargains at all , most had stuff missing or were riddled with rot and they werent exactly cheap.

you can do better privately or on flea bay

Most of the caravans going to autions will be stuff the dealers have failed to sell due to condition or age and they just want rid. If they are anything like car auctions, a lot of them won't sell and will be there at the next aution too. I have been to several car auctions and probably more than 50% of the vehicle "sold" are back in the next auction. There are many reasons why caravans go to auction - they may have failed to sell or they may never have been offered by a dealer. They may fall outside his stock profile due to age etc or he may be overstocked.

They may be offered at auction due to insolvency or deceased estate.

They may be ex hire.

They may be rubbish.

It is buyer beware at any auction but with a decent auction you will pay an insurance to protect your title to the goods at least.

They don't give stuff away at auctions. The auctioneer is not father christmas and if they don't reach the reserve they may come round again but there are certainly opportunities for bargains and opportunities for disaster.

Would I buy a caravan at auction? - probably not.

OH works at a  Vauxhall dealers.Many good cars going through the auctions at the moment.Many dealers are sending their part ex. straight to auctions.Maybe it could be the same for caravans.
