Freedoms aren't that much narrower than a normal (older style)caravan just a lot shorter , we had one as a first van and thought it was brilliant, we towed with a little Suzuki 1.3 jeep or a 1.3 wagon R and went all over the place, They're made of fibreglass so you don't have the problem with rot like a lot of vans,
They are also very easy to pull around as they are so light. There are a few of us on here started out with a freedom and some still have them and all rate them as excellent little vans

Hi sheve.we have the sunseeker and its our starter van.we like ours a lot but they're not for everyones taste.there are only two of us but you nearly always need the awning up just for the extra space.we mainly live in the awning and sleep in the van.this sometimes makes it more expensive to pitch because of the awning.we like the van but we soon will be looking for a bigger one. The good news is they hold their price well.

We were impressed with the unit we looked round. Width is critical as we are after a van which is narrow enough to travel down the drive into our rear garden.
The drive is 2.25m (about 7'-6"), the Enka is around 6'-8" and looked ideal.
Glad you were pleased with them, thanks once again
Have a look at my gallery, we have a 2 berth pop-top, tow with a Micra 1.5 diesel (used to tow with 1.2 Micra petrol).
The van is almost the same width as the car, we do use a towing mirror (to be legal) but really don't need it.
We have an awning that gives us more space, the van has a full size fridge, hob & sink, washroom with electric flush loo & washbasin (dinky size) and hot water on tap.
We love it!!

Thanks Dreadnought, we're currently tenters, and love living under canvas,(or the modern equivalent).
After yet another monsoon season last year, we are were looking at investing in a folding camper, as a quicker pitch in bad weather, however, having seen the "Freedom" at the weekend, this seemed a good alternative for grabbing a short break when the weather isn't too dry.
Thanks for the advice on the living space, it all helps!
Hi again sheve.the freedoms are narrow to the point where you don't really need the towing mirrors either.we tend to use our mirrors to look 'proper' lol.as mentioned above they are all grp even the floor is in ours.the shell is a moulded one piece meaning there aren't any seems to perish and let in the dreaded damp.

We started with a freedom sunseeker, 10' long 4 berth. Towed it with a mini metro.
Absolutely great, really well built and tons better than the tent. But for 5 of us it was a bit cramped and very basic, with no heating or hot water; plenty of storage though. I think the more modern ones are better equipped. As said by others, being fibreglass I think it will last for ages. The inside is solidly built as well.
You may find a motor mover useful for moving it down your narrow drive as it gives you very fine control.
Hi Steve if you look in the Free Adverts on up the top of the page you will see my Freedom Jetstream Prima for sale only 5 months old. Don't believe anything about not being warm in the winter. My wife and I were away in December and kept turning our halogen heater off because it was so warm. The insulation is great and with a GRP all in one body are not prone to leaking. The reason we want to change is my wife is a coeliac and we always cook our own food. At the moment we use a portable oven, along with the four burner hob and grill. I have 8 photos showing van and inside and you would be welcome to view it.
We had one too (Sunseeker) They are fab vans easy to tow, no damp issues to worry about, we went all over the place in ours and it always got people chatting to us! They are tardis like on the inside!
Load of rubbish about the insulation, same as any caravan, if your away in winter you would have a heater on in any unit!
