On our new van (1480kg Bailey Pegasus), we have been offered 2 choices of brand new mover for the same price.
Either a Truma Mover S or a Powrtouch 3.
Does anyone have a preference as to which one they would choose?
We currently have a 3 year old Powrtouch that has been OK, and Powrtouch's after sales have been pretty good, but should I stick with the known product, or try the Truma?
Stick with the powertouch if it's caused you no problems - worth it for the 5 year no quibble guarantee. Had mine now for 4 years claimed twice for handset and rubber gaiters, both sent by return of post and the handset was not a fault - turned out to be my fault
Powertouch, cracking aftersales and thats just what you need should it go wrong!
------------- Enjoying caravanning, realising what an expensive hobby it is and spending the family’s inheritance before they can get their hands on it!
Take the powrtouch off your current van and fit it to the new one when you get it back. I doubt you will get a new mover supplied and fitted for the cost of removing and refitting the old one, even taking into account what extra you are getting on the part ex on the old van with a mover fitted.

we will not get our new van onto our storage pitch without the mover (or cooking the car's clutch) added to the fact that I am too scared to drill a brand new van, so to us that is not an option. It would be the cheapest however!! Also we only have 2 years of the powrtouch warranty on the current one and a new mover will have a 5 year guarantee.
You don't have to drill anything to fit the mover, they clamp to the chassis. Could you not arrange with a local dealer to pick the van up and take it straight to him to have the mover fitted? Or even get the dealer to change them over while you wait to pick up the new van. It's only a few hours work and he might be glad to have you wandering around the accessory shop for a few hours.
We are having the powrtouch with automatic engagement fitted when we take our caravan for a service in May. We didnt shop around, this was the one they fit so this is the one we are having, hope its as good as everyone says cause its costing us a lot of money.

I know you don't have to drill the chassis, but you must have to drill to get the wires to the control box and to the isolator switch in the battery box. A mover swap will be £80 and they can't do it on a Saturday.
Unfortunately all other options would involve time off work which neither of us have any spare. It's just a choice between which new mover to have fitted.
Stick with the Powertouch with the 5 yrs Parts & Labour.
Take your old mover off the van and sell it privatley either in the paper or on ebay. The dealer will give you nothing for the mover, but will charge handsomely for it to the new customer.
The motors are £65, electonics £ 40 ? , Remote £10 ?, rolleres etc £30, So £250 max I suppose, not bad for something which sells for between £500 and £1000.
Fitting £125 for 2 - 3 hours work, not bad money if you can get it.
