Was just wondering how often we should be doing it.
We got it in September and I've only washed it once, we went away in October and had to pitch under a tree and the site was a little muddy so when the weather & time allowed I washed it to get all the dirt off. It has now been sitting on the drive since then and hasn't got dirty as such but has a few black water marks on it...so do I need to wash these off regularly? Also do you wash it before you go away or just when you come back?
Autumn. Spring. And whenever it needs a spruce in between. We usually give it a once over, just before we go away, as well. We also polish all over in spring.

You clean it when it comes out of storage, before you leave for the site, when you arrive on the site, when you leave the site, when you get home and any other time in between that you think it needs it.
If you're really sad - otherwise you can be like me and clean it when it looks like it needs it or when she tells me to do it. LOL
We keep our van in storeage and can't get it on our drive at home to wash it....so we've never washed it.
It could really do with a wash (got all the stuff to do it). Where am I supposed to wash it. My plan is to wash it when we're away in it over Easter - but I'm not sure if this is the right thing to do, and if I'd look ridiculous doing it.
Could you take it to a car wash? I don't mean a drive thru one but one where you have a long brush on a hose. You'd need to take some steps with you and probably need more than one wash to get round it.
We (that's OH actually) wash ours when it looks dirty so normally when we get back from a trip or after the winter.
We have also washed the caravan before going away and found it dirtier after the journey than before we started! Have now got that One Dry Wash stuff so we can easily clean the side where the awning goes at least when we arrive on site.
I clean mine before I go away, and by the time I get on site its usually in a worse state than before I left. I never learn.

you and me both mate, have the thing glittering on the drive then 100 miles later it si manky. then i wash the thing again on site. hate it looking dirty on site
We only wash ours when it needs it. Only once had to wash it after arriving on site - we were on a gravel hardstanding pitch and wouldn't have been able to put the awning up as the sides were so dirty.
usually every fortnight , amazing how dirty the roof gets , and of course it always runs down the sides and front and streaks it so you have to do the lot.
and always wash and polish before a trip away
and usually a quick wash down on site if its been bad weather on the way and its got dirty.
not that im paranoid about having a clean van.........
Hi, no there's no washing area. I have mentioned it to the guy who owns the storeage place but he doesn't think he'll get planning permission. Going to look into the One Dry Wash stuff - never heard of it before.
just on a side note, I see a few of you clean van when you arrive on site, some of the sites I have been on state NO VAN CLEANING OR REPAIRS to be carried out on site.
We have ours cleaned once or twice per year at our storage site (incl the roof). Otherwise we give it a quick front, back and sides with a sponge on site.
Just spotted T1gerJack's post but we've either not been on a site that's precluded people wiping road grime off their van or haven't been picked up on it.
Other than using a hosepipe or pressure washer and turning the pitch into a full blown valet area I can't see what the issue is and why some sites ask people not to do it. Doesn't a clean van look nicer?
Thanks everyone, I think I may give ours a quick once over before we go away in April if the weather is good. Never even considered that the side could be too dirty to put the awning up .
Need hubby to do the roof though, when I did it last time I couldn't reach even on steps with a long handled brush!
