We are just looking into buying our first caravan... exciting times :-)
Quick fire questions, if we didn't go for the fixed bed, but instead, bought a caravan whereby we made up the front double, how comfy is it to sleep on... which way up would you put the seat cushions (is that a daft question for you experienced ones out there)... would you need a topper of some sort... Is it a pain in the bum to make up a bed every night... Would you pick decent bathroom (ie separate shower) over a fixed bed..
I love the fixed bed but for us it wasn't an option as we needed more living space which we found lacking in the fixed bed, we sleep really well on the front bit, sometimes we make it up as a huge double sometimes we sleep singles.go round and have a lay down at the dealers, some are comfy some a bit harder, It can be a pain making up the bed but it dosnt take long, and if we have a late night we just as I said flop on the seats as singles.Bathroom size wasn't that important as we use site showers so we have a small shower/toilet but it gives us again more living space which we wanted.
It's exciting buying a van good luck in your search, you will know which one is right for you as soon as you sit in it.
we always makes ours up before having a beer and always sleep really well on it (aswell as can be expected when a four year old and the dog decide to join us in the night !!)
Went out in our 'new' caravan and as usual I slept better than I ever do at home! We did have a feather mattress topper on the cushions though courtesy of my Nan! Previously had a memory foam topper and that was great too, not too sure I'd want the cushions on their own, but fixed bed not an option as we want the space.

It takes less than 1 minute lifting cushions up, pulling out slats and lying cushions back down. If that is a pain - you are one lazy bar steward!!
2 minutes for me lol but then I was never good at puzzles lol

You're right, I agree with you, I am - possibly due to the fact I'm on holiday
Be really lazy get yourself a van with a nice comfortable fixed bed
As for bathroom - it would depend on a couple of things:
Are you going to use the nice quiet sites that don't have facilities (shower & toilet)
Do you object to sharing your shower & toilet with 20 or so other people - maybe more bearing in mind that some of those people may not give a damn about how they leave the facilities.
If you answer yes to either of those questions or even just an "errrrmmm maybe" then you should be considering how useful the on-board facilities are.
------------- Caravanning is a way of getting a cheap holiday out of an expensive hobby
