traditional expectation would suggest this is a good time to sell and even though the market is a bit on it's head I still think you've more chance of making you sale now than any other time of year...

let's see the link for your ad...

what I would also say is for high value items I've found classified listings work better and are on for longer.

and now for the annoying/depressing bit, absolutely everything will sell.....if it's cheap enough.

Get rid of all those stripes! It makes reading the text *very* difficult, and people will just get fed up and move onto another advert rather than reading it all the way through.

Put your list of what's included in bullet points (if you can work out how to do that, just put *'s with a few spaces in front of each line on the list).

Add a diagram of the layout to your images.

Some of the photos look very dark. Try to brighten them up or take ones with better lighting maybe?

If you're going to do it as auction format, I think it's better for high value things to start the bidding off lower (with a set reserve price that can be higher than your starting price).

hth a bit...

looking at your listing have to agree with the comments above, the back ground to the text isn't great and the pictures don't sell your van very well....

where did did you buy your van? if it was a dealer I'm afraid you probably won't be able to recoup what you paid,

we managed to secure our new van for £6300

My husband always says that the lower starting prices always seem to sell.  The only other things that could possibly have put a few people off other than the higher starting price is the lines down the background were a bit off putting, the only times to view were Saturday evening and Sunday and the caravan being advertised elsewhere!

I don't mean to have a go or anything but am giving what i hope you will take as constructive criticism to help sell your 'van.  You obviously don't want to accept less than £8000. and i don't blame you because i'd be the same and deciding on a starting price is a hard task on small items let alone on a caravan.  I couldn't even hazard a guess on what kind of starting price might make it sell but hope that if you do the 2nd chance selling thing that this time it will sell.  Maybe if you do relist put down that you are having an open viewing day on the Sunday (rather than only available to view then) and interested parties should email for your address or something similar?  I know when i was looking for a 'van and it said advertised elsewhere i always thought that it wasn't worth asking about it as it's probably already been sold so by the time i could get there it would have gone.  But that is just me lol.

Have you had any interest from advertising elsewhere?

Hope that you find a buyer really soon so that you can move on, it must feel as if you can't until that's all settled :(

Agree with 888Dee, this is perhaps the best time of year to sell. We went to a dealer to see the Compass Rallye that we wanted and he offered us a reasonable trade in price, but I was confident that we could beat is by selling privately, but the dealer held our new van for a month, pretty sure that we would struggle and come back for the PX price. I priced it at £2k more that the PX value and the van went in 24 hrs so all things are possible!
With your starting price of £8k I am guessing that you were looking for £9k - 9.5k. To you it is very reasonable to ask this amount but to a buyer looking to part with the best part of £10k for a 2003 van, there is a lot of competition out there for the same money, including a lot of newer vans. Just food for thought, but she is a lovely van and I hope you get what you want for her.

thankyou i knew the pictures wernt very good im normally quite particular about using decent pictures but i took a few on my camera phone when we went up to the storage thinking id got loads on the laptop from ages ago but when we got home i hadnt downloaded them

stipes?? you means the spaces in between the paragraphs?

ill take all that it to consideration and relist hopefully with a more appealing advert! thanks guys x

we bought her private and bought new awning not so long after, not trying to recoup its life things depreciate in value and i except that, i spent a good while looking at this model and the ones above and below that were for sale to get a round about figure of what we should get

The grey stripes on the ebay background template , not the gaps betweeen paragaraphs .
Gaps are good . The stripes make my eyes go funny and make it difficult to concentrate on the words. use a plain background next time.
Its a gorgeous van ,can see why you are so gutted to sell. good luck with the sale .

A large twin axle 'van will be more difficult to sell than a smaller one, so needs to be priced accordingly. This time of yr is the best time to sell. I suggest you relist with a reserve & a lower starting price to generate some interest.

You need a couple of photos showing outside of 'van without awning. I do think 'no time wasters' etc on listings are counter productive, they suggest the seller is not open to negotiation & will take an aggressive stance.

In all cases the customer is king, time wasters(ie people who choose another caravan after looking at yours)& those making silly offers(ie those finding out how desperate you are to sell)are just par for the course.

Put the weight in the top bit thats important I had lost interest by the time I found out the weight, I agree that you need to list everything but when I am looking I need weight, length and then the rest, me and lots of other people only read the first few lines of an advert.

My other pet hate is people who dont turn photos if they cant be bothered to put the pictures on correctly then I can't be bother to look. This last bit is just a general point.

As many informative photos that you can get..good quality, people spending that amount of money won't part with it easily. if there is a dent or a mark , show it. be absolutely honest, most people bidding won't be able to see the van in the metal.

I sold an awning on Ebay last week, it was up against an identical one..my pictures showed the "actual" awning erected from all angles and a close up of a small tear. the rival one showed a badly scanned brochure picture and a photo of the awning half erected, sagging and looking very sad......I got £103 and they got £23

do the add then stand back and ask, would i look at this, is all the info there that i need,

I didn't see your add cos the listng had ended, but as suggested here maybe the Classified Add is the route to take for a high value item. have a look and see what similar vans are going for and state your price is negotiable.

This is probably the best time to sell because of the increased interest in camping this year, but as every one else will be thinking the same thing there will be a huge choice of vans on the market so be realisitic. I really hope you get a satifactory conlusion. Everything is crossed here for you.

I would also put it on preloved, is free, you wont be able to put many photos on ,you can email photos when people contact you, also I used viva street and you can put more photos on there. I used both of these when selling our van, ebay is a last resort for me , I don't like paying their fees.
