I'd just popped on here to let folk know the same because.......
Our tin tent is in storage there and we'd been sitting in the garden having our brekkie watching this plume of black smoke in the distance and wondering what on earth it was! THEN at midday our son-in-law rang us to say that he'd heard about a fire at Cranham Caravans on the radio while he was out and about at work. My hubby immediately shot down there to see what's what but the road into the place was all blocked off. He saw a space just infront of a fire investigation truck on the A127 so nipped in to it and approached one of the chaps who was just getting changed.
This chap didn't even know there was a storage place behind the sales part but told my hubby that it had apparently been the NEW motorhomes along the front including one that somebody was supposed to be picking up today worth........£105 grand! Yikes!!!!!! The chap said they would be handing it's remains to the unfortunate owner in a little box........
BUT having read this post I'm not so sure ours IS fine because where our storage pitch is.....is just the other side of the wall where the workshop is!!!!!!!!!!!!! GULP!
Gawd I'll be like a cat on a hot tin roof until we have confirmation, (seeing with our own eyes once we're allowed access), that Ellie IS ok, even if she'll need a damned good scrub.
As my hubby shot off to check on Ellie, I had thoughts going through my mind like 'oh well, she's insured' but also wondering how the hell we'd be able to get another new tin tent in the same layout before we go on our much needed hols in about 8 weeks time! We had to miss any hols last year courtesy of hubby having his heart attack on his 60th birthday which was also the day before we should have been taking our tin tent to Cornwall!!!!!!! And then of course...he goes and has a kidney tumour and has to have a kidney out! Never rains but it pours so SURELY fate couldn't hand us ANOTHER nasty surprise....could it?????????
But being, (or trying to be), calm and sensible, (so unlike me, the sensible bit),.....I'm SURE it'll all be fine.........got everything possible crossed here including eyes
I seriously hope that nobody else has any damage to theirs if they're in storage there or happened to be in the workshop either. Am awaiting the local news on the tele to see if it's mentioned to give us more of an idea.

That is good news you must be very relieved. It still musty be alful for all those affected.
re caravan insurance that’s why we switched to Caravan club insurance to carry on getting the new for old as caravan gets older. We were also told that if our house contents would cover the stuff in the caravan we wouldn't need caravan contents, first call to house insurance the women said it was covered but I wasn't convinced and double checked its only certain items that are covered, first info was duff!!!
We used to have Caravan Club insurance with our old, (much loved), tin tent but when we got our new one it was going to cost us a fortune! After lots of searching and advise from various peeps on here, we opted this time for Caravan Guard but sadly as I mentioned we've now lost our new for old. As for needing it to be serviced annually Michael, we only had a three year warranty on Ellie but didn't actually have it serviced for it's second or subsequent years because like most folk with tin tents, my hubby does all the usual maitainence on her and it was once again, down to cost. You'd think that if they give you a three year warranty with a thing, they'd at least cover the cost wouldn't ya
Mind you, I might do some more research about other options available for a six year old tin tent and see what comes up. Not right at this minute though coz I'm busy watching the England v Slovenia match. Thank heaven's for touch typing
