Was thinking how handy an iphone is when camping/caravanning. Here are some useful apps I'd suggest:-

TomTom Western Europe (cant remember how much it cost) - so you can find the site and store sites as poi's

Highways agency traffic (freebie) so you can find out about delays en route

AR Dispointer pro £11.99 so you can line up your dish with Astra 2D and watch telly in the evening

Toptable - a freebie - so you'll always know where to eat wherever you go. It'll even let you book the restaurant and suggest a suitable wine for your meal.

iBBQ so you can find a butcher and predict the weather for your bar-b-q plus the odd recipe.

Anyone got more ideas?

Better still, scrap the iPhone and get an Android based phone. Google Navigator is free. Numerous compass apps are available...for free.

Pity CC and C&CCC clubs don't do an app for members with their site details.

Jury is still out for me with Android early days yet LDKO perhaps when its a more mature OS I'll think about it.

Good post m80 :)

I was going to say Dishpointer and the Highways agency one.

There is XCWeather - its a website that shows you the wind speed and direction and you can stick an icon on your page so you can find it easily.

We've got the AA Camping & Caravanning guide, iBBQ, Coleman Camp Recipes and Coleman Camping checklist. Tesco finder, Findmycar - which is also good for saving where the caravan is if you go off walking.

My son has a spirit level app on his.  We compared it to a traditional spirit level when levelling the van recently and it was spot on!

I'll have a look for the spirit level app. We use one I got out of a christmas cracker its on a key ring so its just hung up inside the caravan door - easy to reach to level up.

Does the AA Camping and Caravan guide have lists of sites? I can't read the print in the big site book these days so something on screen would definately be easier

I've the National Truss app (freebie) for finding their attractions to go and see.

I got the campsite app from Motorhome Facts website as it looked like it would be great - it was awful - don't waste your money - hardly any sites listed.

What I'd like is a UKCS app!

Second the UKCS app!

We have the spirit level as well forgot about that one.

Not used the AA site one much yet, but I think it was free so worth a look at.

Someone suggested a CC app but you don't need one. You can just use the site on the internet.

Another good one is TVcatchup, also free with all the favourite TV channels.

I use my iphone loads when caravanning.  Thanks for the hints and tips for some new apps.  My most used apps are:

SitesUK - which is about to be relaunched and i've found it pretty good. Although it has a few bugs at the moment.

Next Buses - shows you the bus stops around you and when to expect the next bus and where to

Around Me - Free App - which shows you what is around you, restaurants, petrol stations, ATMs, etc etc

Trip Advisor - reviews etc

Sky+ - I either use this to rcord anything i forgot or to check the TV listings while I'm away.

Torch (iphone 4 only) turns your flash into a great bright torch. Way better than the screen torches on the 3g & 3gs

Cyclemeter - probably my favourite app - log and map your ride (or has walk, hike & run mode too).  See where you went, how far it was, the calories burnt, and pit yourself against it for a personal best.

Ocado - I do a quick shop on the last day or so of the holiday to arrive a couple of hours after I get home to tide me over so I don't have to worry about returning to bare cupboards.

how did we ever cope without one, lol!  As for Android...? nah, I'll stick to my iPhone 4g thank you!  Love it!
