Hi guys I have just bought a magic mover for my single wheel caravan, £503 delivered I think a great price, Im going to have a go at fitting it this weekend without a ramp or lift, the question is do I tilt the van fully backwards to give me a bit of working room, or just try to work off the ground,

Have not fitted a Magic mover but I assume is the same as a Truma, Ego etc.

Yes lifting the van at the front with the jockey wheel will make access a lot easier.

Also if you are doing the job alone try and put some blocks under the motor assembly to raise it up near to the chassis. In this way it is a lot easier to fit the clamps to the chassis.

The plan at the present time is to stay in and keep out of the rain!

Unfortunately Bideford is a little bit to far from your location!

Seriously though if you can handle spanners etc and have a basic electrical knowledge the job is quite straightforward.

Any further questions don't hesitate to ask.

Hi Top-Dog,

Good luck fitting the motor mover, hope everything goes OK.
We're also looking at fitting one of these movers (Enduro Eco)to our caravan.... so any tips, pictures and new swear words would be more than welcome.

The price of these movers is not much different than the second hand ones we've seen, and the new ones come with a 2/5 year guarantee, A bit of a no-brainer really.

I'm just hoping that it'll move our caravan OK (according to the handbook the max' authorised weight = 1232 KG)

Cheers,
Phil

Thanks for the info, I fitted the mechanical side of things this morning 2hr , I tilted the van a little and then crawled underneath, It all fitted together very well just 16 nuts to tighten I should think a macanic could of done it in about 30mins,

Tomorrow Im going to do the electrics ,just follow the youtube wireing, the only thing Im short of is a crimping tool, but I will borrow one,I thought not bad for an old codger, A local caravan shop traniee offered to do it for £60 which is a good price but if all goes well tomorrow Im sure any of you out there could do it, to be continued

Glad to hear you have made a good start, as I said anyone who can use a spanner should not be afraid of tackling this job.

I have today put the electrics in the van,the only thing I was short of was a large 18mm large drill to put the cut out switch in the battery box,I have crimped all the conectors on and will finish it tomorrow,

You may all think why I am doing it in small stints, We keep the van 200yds away in a compound, I go off to work in the morning and sneak around to the van for  couple of hours before starting work,  Im fitting the mover as a surprise for my better half as a birthday gift,  she has no idea what Im up to,

But this Sunday we are going around to give it a once over before going off in it next weekend for a week to Newquay in Wales,no more pushing it I hope, I just hope she will be surprised, when I draw it forward, Its just like Christmas,

Sounds like she will be over the moon. Well done fitting it yourself, saving lots of money in the process no doubt. Let us know what her reaction was like

 Divorce imminent,

I went around at 10-00 to clean it, I had already been round 10 mins earlier to lift the legs and set the mover up, as we got out of the car I pressed the remote and she shouted the vans rolling  towards us, I then showed her the remote she was very pleased, so for 5 mins we played with it , so next week we are looking forward to getting away and no pushing, buy the way she gave me extra gravy on my lunch so things do look good,

This afternoon she keeps saying  the words ,IM LOVING IT, I think she means the mover,

BUT do remember it was a straight forward procedure, I was 60 last April and as long as you can get under the van you also could do it,
