Fallenangel if you want to have a crack at making a cover out of a water-container this is how I did it...
On the 2 handles that go up I drilled 2 little holes in each of the plastic arms (the flat bit that the old skylight piece attached to) then I srewed strips of wood onto those, picked ones that gave me the correct height to fit the plastic to.
Cut the side off the water container to give you enough depth to reach from the top of the wood to the top of the caravan roof. Then I screwed straight through the cut out plastic into the wood - bingo new skylight cover !
I found that the size of water container I used gave me between 1/2" & 1 1/2" of space around the roof-light hole. Even in torrential wind-driven rain so far no water has managed to find it's way in. There's been a fair bit of that too. !
Did this thinking it would be a temporary repair till we got aproper one, but as they were such a rip-off price & the home-made one looked fine we decided to wait & see how it performed - 1 year on it's still doing the job so if the other one goes we'll just buy a water container & customise it again !
ps - used a stanley knife to cut the plastic to size from the container
