Well Honey has gone to her new home :(

We both feel a bit upset but know we had no choice.

Honey seemed happy when she left lol

So now we have to decide whether to get a trailer tent or tent.  I want a trailer tent, dh prefer's a tent lol.

Awwww I'm gutted for you!! But, Its the best option for this moment in time & there'll be others. On the other hand I'm really pleased you've sold her for what you wanted, it wouldn't have been fair just letting her sit there & not be used. I'm sure she'll be happy in her new home & be good for her new owners. I'll have to break it to Gloria gently.

On a more serious note though, I hope things are looking up for you and your family now you've sold it. I also hope your husband is feeling a lot better and is on the mend and you both get a proper diagnosis soon so you can start looking forward to the future and more camping trips
Lots of love.
Claire

LOL Yes tell her but make sure you reassure her that you won't be getting rid of her too lol.

We are looking forwards to shopping for all the bits we'll need now we are going to be campers :)

Luckily we are well served with camping shops in this area :)

At least this way we will get a holiday next year :)

Finger's crossed that something will work for dh

Expensive tin box lol.

Daft i know but i did think she seemed happy to be going off to her new owners.  I do wonder how she is getting on stuck in a storage facility when she is used to seeing us every day but then have to remember that really she doesn't have feelings and isn't human lol.

I miss her, there is a huge hole where she used to sit and it's hard looking out the window and not seeing her but we couldn't afford to keep her so she wouldn't have got used by us.

They are not just tin boxes, they have souls and seem to take on the characteristics of the names that you give them. Our first caravan was a 5 berth Marauder, named Morris, purchased via Ebay for £350 due to back window needing replacing, no shower fitments and needing a new back window... We fixed him up and he was an obstinate little bumper box, always hustling and seemingly shuffling (not very aerodynamic see). Never used him and sold him with a £60 awning for £700.

The second van was an Elddis Wisp 400-5, had a great fortnight in her, but found the layout was wrong, when the end bed was pulled out you had to walk like a space invader to the loo! She was £650 and was sold for £950, we did have a little damp problem over the front window, but some new mastic and a piece of £5 internal board soon sorted that out! She was named Mavis, after the little fat fairy in Willo The Wisp. She was a lot happier towing, and used to bustle about quite happily.

Now we have Mavis 2, another Wisp, this time a 450 EB, with double dinette layout. Even though she is somewhat larger than Mavis she seems to have taken on the same level of jollity, being a happy van when on the move and a great place to stay when set up. She has done Somerset, Gloucestershire and Cornwall this year.

Only problem was a delaminating floor which has been fixed with a kit from a local caravan dealer, a lot of weight and some hard work.

Sorry to see Honey go... I was always fascinated by how much you loved your van. I'm sorry to say that I haven't given my 540 a name.

Mark.

Michael and Markfree

We didn't owe anything on Honey either.  It was just the cost of servicing and insuring her that was over £500 a year that we couldn't afford with dh not working.  When we were both working there was no problem with it but with dh not working we were slowly gettting further and further into debt.

So we've paid the debts off and are looking into buying our next set of wheels.  Maybe a trailer tent or a tent with trailer but i'd guess that it will need wheels of some sort lol.

The reason she was called Honey was after the Abba song Honey Honey that was out at the time we were looking into buying her and the words just summed up how i felt every time i saw her lol.

We'd never named either of our old 'vans or our old tt.  And i didn't intend to name any but the name was just her's lol

I wasn't commenting on the credit issue... I just thought it was a great quote!! and kind of summed up my situation.

...I've just made my 9th payment for our van :-D

Blimey Mark i thought my caravan was expensive just to sit there yours must cost a fotune lol.  If that has come out sounding offensive then i apologise but i can't help thinking it lol.

But like i say when we were both working having the caravan didn't cost as much because we both wanted it and could afford it AND still go away in it.  But when we couldn't afford to go away in it then there seemed no point in keeping her :(

Who knows what the future may bring :)
