Hello,
I have a scrap Avondale Leda Pentland twin axle caravan which has been parked and generally neglected for over 10 years. It has also recently been vandalised and is now only fit for scrap.
I simply want to be rid of it, but that's where the problem arises. A local scrap merchant quoted £50 to take it away, I agreed but when he arrived he made an excuse about needing a different lorry and drove off never to return.
All four tyres are flat and have perished which makes it very difficult to move. The wheels turn freely when jacked up so no problem with stuck brakes, but even if I replaced the tyres the overall body condition is not safe to tow.
I asked the local council but they just said contact a scrap merchant.
I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks in advance.

Someone where I used to live dumped one on the car park behind my house. I had the very devil of a job getting it taken away, as the local council couldn't move it without the owners' consent (and presumably his money!) LOL. Scrap merchants weren't interested. The local teenies moved in and used as a club house, with resultant noise and police visits... The tyres were flat..
Eventually, a farmer with a tractor came and towed it away for use as a hen house!! You could try a small ad in your local paper - free to a good home, etc.
Also, try an ad on your local freecycle, explaining about the tyres. Someone might want the interior bits for their caravan, or maybe someone might want one as a henhouse - or even a playhouse for the kids! Or a good trailer.... I kid you not, freecycle usually gets a result!
Best of luck to you.
thats a great idea Jax to re-use it as something else and elpecially as the tires are in a state, if you live near farm area it might be best just to offer and see it they know someone to recycle it or even try something like gumtree, you'd be suprised what things you see
