Well that's it, all ordered and signed for, except Michael is ringing me Monday with a 'really good' price on a new mover and if it is anything like the deal I already have that will be the iceing on the cake.

I had previously made my mind up on a New Lunar clubman se and agreed a price over the phone, but when the wife and I went to physically look at the van, Friday just gone, the pair of us were very dissapointed - it just did nothing for us. And I had dragged our existing van the 80 odd miles to the dealer as I was convinced I would be leaving it there as the deposit!

When I got home that day I rang Glossops straight away, and my timing must have been pretty good as the deal just kept getting better (end of period targets, caravan show just round the corner etc). We arrived at Glossops yesterday, Saturday, and there was the display model, heating on, lights on. Good salesman eh.

Anyway the wife and I are delighted and cannot wait to collect it. I just hope the service we have had so far continues.

Any comments good or bad (hopefully no bad ones), would be interesting.

Nice vans, Coachman (men?).

Pity you`ve chosen to buy it from Glossop, I`ve been in several times and never felt comfortable there for a variety of reasons.

They also don`t appear to have a very good reputation if you do a search on the various forums.

Hope you enjoy your van though.

Coachmans are lovely we made a few trips to Glossop viewing the Coachman Amara last year before saving a few quid on a 1yr old Lunar instead.  The attention to detail is fantastic & Im sure Coachman will be our next van.

I've always had great service from the guys at Glossop (providing you aren't in their office when United are playing!!!).  I think the problems with Glossop tend to be on the used side - as when we almost bought the Amara I asked about them on here and all feedback on new after sales was positive.

So what did you get then?

We also bought from Glossop and i've got to say they were very impressive all round!

OH has rung Glossop today regarding a warranty problem we need sorting and they seemed very helpful, but we have been told if we haven't from them in a week to call back. Not a bad response as we knew they would have to contact Elddis before sorting anything (our connector cable has been short circuiting and burnt out-hence no lights! and we are unable to tow the van to get the work done) because they are unsure about if transport from us to themselves is covered and how it will be done.

Have fingers crossed but not holding my breath-lol

i purchased my van from glossop caravans had no problems, no pressure to buy just good service, every dealer in the country will have some negative views from various people if we all acted on these then nothing would get sold and everyone would be too paranoid to spend anything.

Couldn`t agree more.

Unfortunately, the OP asked for opinions and duly got one. You don`t have to like it or agree with it, but the fact that it may be different from yours doesn`t render it less valid.
Then again, every bad dealer/supplier/insurance company in the country will have had some satisfied customers as well. That doesn`t make them "good".

We had done exactly the same and were prepared to order either the SI or the SB but on our second visit to the dealers we realised it did nothing for us either. Far too open plan and it was a job to reach the kitchen cupboards and microwave. The one thing it did have was Alde heating and a towel rail but it felt so bare and uninviting!!!

Thanks for your replies, especially johnks.

I have read lots about Glossops but overall they came out well, the last couple of years in particular.

I will let you know how I get on later in Oct. as we have booked a few days on a site a few miles from Glossops that we will go to immediatley after collecting the new van.

Have to say Glossops were ok with us when we bought our Avondale in 2006. As we travelled from York they let us stay (at their suggestion!) overnight in their compound in our new van complete with hookup to make sure all was ok and we were happy with it. The saga with our Avondale van in the ensuing years was another thing although we used a much nearer Avondale dealer for that.

We love our Coachman.  They have a lovely finish & feel 'solid'.

We aso bought from Glossop & can't fault them.  Excellent service when buying that has continued with after-sales.

Enjoy your new van!

Hi!  We're all fine thanks.  Saw on another thread you'd changed the car.  OH currently has an X5 as someone hit his a couple of weeks ago.  I think he's impressed!  Your Disco should tow well.  Have a lovely break!
