Hi folks
My wife and I were in Wandahome today at South Cave and were offered some very tempting deals on 2011 caravans and just debating maybe taking it further and wondered if anyone had any dealings lately with them good or bad please?. I remember a not so good report in 2008 but a couple of years later??
Thanks
Steve

Hi Bev
??Wonder how they could get away with that surely something as obvious as that would be noticed when the prospective buyer signed up? Must be some gullible people out there

Wandahome South Cave and also Wandahome Knottingley bring words like barge pole, touch, not and with to mind, not in that order, after my dealings with them both!!

i suppose if you ordered a new van you wouldnt be getting the actual display model but it is mis-leading as some features could be different.i only picked up on it as 2011 pegasus should have new stone protectors on the front and none of their vans had it fitted.sure enough ,09 in the reg number

BEWARE OF WANDAHOME SOUTH CAVEWe ordered a Bailey Olympus in May 2010 - Thought we was getting a good deal. However 2 days after we ordered the van we decided we would like to have some extras fitted to the van. We phoned up to ask fot them to be added but they were completely unhelpful, didn't want to help and even lied to us about various things. It took numerous phone calls just to have a motor mover fitted and wheel lock. Anyway after two and a half months waiting the day finally arrived for us to pick up our lovely new van. Only one last problem...............Waiting for us wasn't a Bailey Olympus like we had ordred but a Bailey Pegasus which was too wide to fit up our drive! We couldn't beleive it! After trying to blame Bailey for the mistake when the paperwork clearly showed it was Wandahomes mistake, they desprately tried to sell us the wrong Pegasus van at extra cost to us which we didn't even want and at no point offered to re-order the correct van for us. We asked for our deposit back and came home again with our old van we had taken to trade in. Since then we have spoke with another couple who recently ordered a new van from them and they also said they had nothing but trouble from Wandahome and like us wouldn't advise anyone to buy a van from them. They might be good at selling caravans but after sales and service is appauling. BEWARE

Oh dear. Not looking good is it,just where the hell do you get a decent van from nowadays, can`t believe in 2010 its still down to potluck whether you get a gudd`n or not, you don`t get this sort of `will it be ok or won`t it` with a new car (at least we haven`t) so why on earth is it so iffy with caravans?? Seems that whichever dealer you choose there will always be someone who`s satisfied as well as someone who isn`t so do you just choose the dealer with the least complaints??

just to add, we used a small dealer in east yorks who are also pretty useless when it comes to aftersales and picking up the phone to let you know whats happening etc, best avoid them.

if you do find a good dealer in the area let me know

I also wouldn't dream of putting any more business Wandahome way.

In 2004 I bought a new Coachman VIP 520/4 from Wandahome at Knottingley, my first van and my local dealer. After a few months I realised that I preferred a fixed bed, went to Wandahome at Knottingley and asked about part exchange on another new van, the price they offered was only 70% of what i paid 8 months earlier. I decided to keep the van. Later that year I had the misfortune to badly damage the back panel, which had to be replaced. I arranged to have the job done at Knottingley and shortly before it was due to go in, they informed me that I had to take the van to South Cave for repair as they were short staffed at Knottingley. I took the van to South Cave and was told the repair would be less than a week. Ten days later and no word from Wandahome, I rang to enquire and was told they were waiting for a new window to arrive. When I queried this they said the window was broken, I knew that it was definitely not broken when I took it in but they said it was, I was 40 odd miles away!! 2 weeks later I rang again, still waiting new window, I was confused by this as Coachman caravans are made at Hull, only a few miles away, but Wandahome said the window had to come from Germany, getting really p**s*d off by now, I asked if the guy was walking with it. After they had my van for over a month I received a call to say I could collect my van, I informed them I would there within the hour. When I arrived the service manager totally blanked me and sent a young lad with my keys and to collect the cheque for excess. When I got the van back to storage I checked it and found the repair to be of poor standard and amazingley, they had obtained a new window with the same CRIS number on as the so called damaged one!!! I took the van to Knottingley, the service manager there agreed verbally with me that it was a poor repair standard, but explained they are the same company and would'nt put it in writing, he said they could also etch CRIS numbers on to new windows, but when I said yes, but new ones would be brighter than the faded ones, he said he had to make a phone call and disapeared to never return. I realised I was wasting my time and had a van that I was now unhappy with. I attended the Lawns show and whilst looking at new Coachman vans, was approached by the Wandahome rep, and whilst I had no intention of doing business with them again, I let him give me a quote against a new 535/4, which again was terribly low. I was then approached by another dealer, offered £1,000 more, a discounted mover and a free 15" flat screen TV. I took up them up on the deal and mentioned my thoughts of Wandahome to him, his reply was "another, thats the fifth customer from Wandahome today". I have been totally happy with my new dealer since and will be buying a second new van from them in the near future.

We also had bad experience with Wanderhome the branch near Donacster. In 2006 we ordered a new caravan, salesman had lots of time for us pre ordering, but the hand over was rushed and they had supplied a slightly different model, after a lot of hassle we managed to reject the caravan and get our money back, but we still had wasted a lot of time and money on going up there. We also had to involve trading standards, a really unpleasant experience.

I would give Wandahome at South Cave a miss as well, their after sales and salesman's honesty have a lot to be desired as I found out to my cost.
