I'm at the same one at Pepperstock too. I thought that it was about an average price. I know what you mean about it though, definately no thrills. There's also a storage site at Meppershall. We had our name down on the list and a spot came up but we'd just paid the next 6 months at Pepperstock so we let the space go. The CC have a storage site at their Welwyn camp site and I think it's about £600 per year.
I'm afraid you need to double that!! It seems secure. We've been there over a year with no problems. The caravans are pretty close together and to be honest we wouldn't manage without a mover but that's just where we positioned. Other spots would be OK. It's a gold Cossoa site and there's a chap living on the site. We once put our caravan away about 11pm and there was no lighting!! I don't know if it was just faulty but I'm pretty sure they advertise floodlights. Saying that it's virtually on top of the M1 and now the owner has widened the exit it's fairly accessible even for a novice (as long as you haven't got a pitch at the furthest possible corner). I don't know if Steve agrees with me but it's the only storage site we've used so I haven't much to compare it with. Hope that helps.
The storage site at Pepperstock is basicly a field with a fence around it, there are no services provided ( No electric or washing facilities) There are flood lights and cameras which may or may not work. They certainly did not capture any images when my caravan along with a dozen others were broken into a couple of years ago. There is somebody living in the adjoining house, but I look in twice a week to check my van ( I live in Caddington so right on my doorstep ) and I very rarely see anyone there. I think the owner puts in an appearance on Saturdays if you want to have a look before you commit yourself.
I used the Pepperstock site for a number of years. Mt principal concern was the close proximity (next door) of a large travellers site. There were a number of break ins but fortunately I wasnt one of them. The other concern I have is that the gaps between the lines of vans are quite narrow which made it impossible to hitch up longer vans and tow without moving the van first. Ok if you have a mover but hard work if you havent. I moved to another smaller farm site on the Thorne road (about 3 miles from Dunstable , just off the A5 near to M1 Jct 12). I dont know if there are any vacancies there but if anyone wants details they can email me

Good luck with the Thorn site but if you don't have any luck I'd just like to point at that there is someone living on the pepperstock site. He lives in a silver Airstream and there are washing facilities too ( a very long hose pipe). Don't know about any break ins. We've only been there just over a year. I agree with the tight spaces though.

Hi Alison.
There may well be someone living on the site, but as I said I visit the site twice a week most weeks that I am not away in the van and I can count on one hand the number of times I have seen any one there let alone anybody working or living there.
Yes there is a long hose pipe, but I would hardly call that "Washing facilities" especially as the vans are that close together you can not put a step ladder up to do the roof. The last two times I have been away, I have returned to find another van in my slot. Not the best way to enhance customer satisfaction. Yes It was sorted, but it is just another symptom of the "I'm only in it for the money" attitude of the present owner.
There's another Cossoa site at jnt 14 which i also like the look of and one futher up northampton way on the M1 which is covered. I don't mind travelling around 30 miles for the right site.
