Hi all

Does anyone know the differences in the current touring caravan insurance cover offered by the CC v CCC?

I have just had quotes for my new (to me) van on a "market value" basis from both club insurers. I answered all questions the same and asked for the same level of cover. CCC quoted £220, CC quoted £384. As they are not allowed to give advice they would not say if their policy differed in any way, does anyone know?

The only thing to do is go through each policy seperately and see exactly what each company is offering you.
Some will include European cover, there may be limits to how many consecutive days the van can be used, how much the "extras" (awning, water carriers, battery and personal possesions etc...) have been valued at, what safety/security equipment must be used (minimum is usually hitch lock and a wheel clamp), where the van will be kept, who will have use of the van, current age and condition of the van......

Although you answered all the questions the same, there may be some differences that the company automatically add or deduct from the policy which could affect the insurance cover price.

Thanks Michael, that is my gut reaction but was surprised at the price difference and that got me thinking I might not be comparing like with like.

Have now been on "Go compare" and got 8 quotes ranging from 249 to 379, most of which were offering "new for old". Gone back to CCC and got new for old quote up to 10 years old for £248  so CC does appear to be at the top end of the market, at least for my Van and circumstances.

I have used CCC insurance in anger. They were superb. They even phoned me to ask why the repairers had not put a claim in yet. You don't get many insurance companies chasing up claims. I personally would recommend them.

Just preparing myself for next years quote with one claim on my "record".

I have the "guarenteed value "option with C&CC for my,bought secondhand van this option allowes you to insure for the value you bought the van at(from a dealer)simler to new for old. due to accidental damage the cost of repairs were much more than the market value but C&CC carried out the repairs as they were less than the Guarenteed value

incidently there is a misconception that on a new for old cover the van will be replaced if the damage exceeds the market value of said van. This is wrong the van will only be replaced if it is a total writeoff or damaged beyond the cost of a new van,& the annual premium must be based on the costs of a new van each year

Tony, I am a member of both clubs and the premium difference was about the same as yours so of course I went with C&CC

We were with caravanguard until we bought our new van.  They said they wouldn't insure us at all without making all sorts of security arangements including tracker and post fitted into the ground.

The cc only required one device fitted.  We have more devices but they were cheaper anyway.
