We've got an old analogue black & white 12v TV that we take camping. Will we have to dump it this year or is there some kind of Freeview adaptor that will help me view Coronation Street?
I take it this old TV has no scart socket then... Trying to think of a way round that as I've only ever seen Freeview boxes with Scart outputs, but that doesn't mean it's impossible?

It's possible to get a scart to coax converter but by the time you've bought that and a freeview bix I wouldn't think it would be worth it.
Dont know where you are but I have a 240/12v 10"colour tv with scart sockets you could have for nothing but you would have to collect.

If you can get hold of an old video recorder, you can use it between the Freeview box and the television to act as a modulator, eliminating the need for a scart lead to the television.
Are you still watching the original episodes of Coronation Street given that its a black and white TV
Personally I think I would dump it and treat yourself to a new TV with digital tuner built in so that you can watch the newer episodes in colour! Seriously as has been said by the time you try and get a digi box and connectors its going cost the best part of a new TV.
Need to come into the 21st century and treat yourself to, say, an Avtex, with built in Freeview and DVD player. Getting little boxes, videos etc to link to your TV are all well and good but they tend to take up extra sockets. Then record films at home and put them onto DVD to take away to watch when Corrie isn't on.

imho by the time you have spent and the money it will cost to covert you would be better buying a new one with freeview built in at a cost of £100 at asda, this will also be half the weight of your old one.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
I also have to agree for a little more than the cost of the freeveiw box and the addtional leads 19" hd ready flat screen with built in freeveiw again can be wired direct to 12v or used via ciggy lighter plug
im sure there are hundreds of people that will give you a colour black and white analogue tv free , then you just need to buy a free view box.
ive got one in my spare room . a 14inch panasonic. and ive also got one in my bedroom that i watch videos on when i go to bed. one of these we used to take in the caravan with us.
it is such a shame and a watse because of the change over they were just being dumped. we dumped a perfectly good 24 inch tv
go to your tip and ask if you can have one there are hundreds at our tip and im sure lots that run very well .
i would have gladly given mine to some one rather than just throwing it away. but no one wants them now.
sorry but reading the other posts have you thought of buying a small cheap tv they are so cheap in tesco or asda use your vouchers in tesco towards one. this is what we did to take away with us . and i must say they are smaller to transport and lighter.
it is sad that we live in a throw away world now . and because i feel so bad about it i have a house full or rubbish , like saga mega drives and games consoles that have hundreds of games . what do people do with them our boys have moved out and left all this behind.
It's a simple fact we now live in a 'disposable culture' but it maybe preference for the Op to try and retain the old B&W TV (if it ain't broke..?) and there's nothing wrong with that if it suits them.
Quickest option for digital reception would be the device in Wizards link, although personally I would consider treating myself and getting a neat little LCD/Freeview TV as mentioned; if nothing else, the convenience of one box and far less weight.
Now, to go off topic a bit (apologies)...

... have you considered listing the 'surplus' bits & pieces on a local Freegle group (formerly Freecycle)? The site is intended for folk to give away stuff that might otherwise end in landfill, but others might still have use for.
Just a thought, look here.
Charity shops are a good source of 14 inch colour TVs, typically £5 each round here. I often see 10 inch 12 volt colour TVs with SCART for £10 in there as well. Another £20 for a cheap freeview box and you're in business! Assuming there's a 240V supply or inverter for the freeview box...
