Hi all i am looking for some advice i tow my caravan so i was wondering which is the best way to have recovery on my caravan and 4x4 so any ideas who is the best firm to go to thanks .
Hi daviestess, The CC also do a mayday recovery through green flag, and there are no restrictions on the size of van to be recovered, according to other posts on here.

If in Doubt Check it Out.
We have Green Flag through the Caravan Club and would highly recommend it. We've only had to use it once with the caravan but the breakdown driver took us to storage, waited whilst we secured the van, dropped me at home, then took OH and our poorly Landy to our preferred garage, waiting with him until I arrived in the car I'd picked up from home.
Excellent service then and every other time.

I'd recommend Green Flag thro the Caravan Club , i used them when i broke down on Porlock Hill , they were very good , they towed me back to the caravan site , allowed me to finish my holiday , then supplied a tow car so i could tow the caravan home .
We've got the cover with the AA (basic cover provided with bank account - we've upgraded it to Relay). They assure me that in the event of a breakdown whilst towing, they would recover the caravan as well. The only thing that isn't covered is if it is the caravan rather than the car that causes the breakdown.
If you don't store the caravan at home, something to bear in mind with recovery is to check that they'll take the car to your home and the caravan to your storage site.

I have spoken to the AA about this and they have assured me that "assistance" includes the caravan or trailer as long as it was on tow at the time - even if the problem is with the caravan eg a burst tyre (as long as it is within the weight and width limits)
The AA do not cover caravans over 7 metres abroad so we go with the German Club ADAC mush better value too at 98.70 euro's per year. Over in this country the AA will come out but cover the ADAC rules for length up to 10 metre van and wider width here. The CC do notcover the wider vans so I understand..

Snooks, do I read it correctly when I assume that the ADAC cover is for the whole of Europe including recovery, if so why would anyone use AA RAC Greenflag etc especially when they have larger 'vans.

green flag all the way we got towed from somerset to lancaster superb no problems at all then even phoned me to ask what time we would like to go,as we broke down a couple of days before we where coming home amazing service,i was with the AA but we broke down on the motorway and we where there for 6 hours with 3 little kids i will never use them again, also i was in the rac and one morning my car started but it was rough i had got dirt in the carb so called rac well by the time they had gone it wouldnt start at all
Hate to sound repetative, but Green flag, only broken down towing once, blew the head gasket on a Disco towing back from Bournemouth, they turned up in 20 minutes, and towed us all the way home, helped me put the van and broken car back on the drive.
It really depends on whether you are abroad or not. I don't think the 7 mt rule is a problem in this country but it definitely does in Europe. You will then need to think again and in our opinion ADAC the German Club is the only way to go 98.70 euro's a year which really is excellent price if you are only travelling in this country and includes up to 10 metre van.
