Hi all,
Does anyone know if the two major clubs (CC & CCC) have any set rules on which product, i.e. blue or green must be used in the waste tanks?
I am nearly out of my blue stuff (Elsan) and looking to replenish stocks for the new season starting this week. Don't want to spend money on the wrong type.

IFAIK you can also use top n tail, Im getting some this year.
green and top n tail I believe are fine to use in septic tanks, whereas the blue can affect the bacteria required to break down waste.
some sites specify green or another environmentally friendly fluid, some don't.

Green is accepted everywhere but the blue tends to work better . We carry a large bottle of blue & a small green - just incase the site insists on using green . As stated by Tim green is better for septic tanks but most large sites have proper waste systems so 'blue will do !'
I always use blue and pink Elsan and it lasts ages. Lots of caravan sales places sell them in a twin pack large bottles for about £14. I have tried aqua chem but dont like the pink rinse of aqua chem. Also tried top'n'tail but dont like the smell.
interesting I did not know about colour restrictions.
but as I get mine from a portable toilet maker I will stick with Blue for the present esp as it has a strawberry sent to it. saves on air freshener in the unit.
and I get it free so....
but would have thought Green would be better as any spilt (other than on your carpet) would look better and be less obtrusive.
Clubs don't specify but many sites do - especially way out in the countryside where septic tanks are the order of the day. The formaldehyde is the problem in the blue - it kills the helpful bacteria in the tanks. It's the stuff used to preserve the biology specimens of old. Get that in a cut - even in a weak form - and you know about it.
Go green - it's the same price , does the job and you can use it anywhere without thinking... EASY init?
Most of the sites that specify Green Only will have plenty of the Green Chemical. They usually buy it in in 45 gallon drums and will sell you it in half gallon containers.
We changed over to Green Toilet Fluid years ago and then we know that we are okay wherever we go.
The only CC or C&CC site that I've come across where you have to use the Green is the C&CC Skye site, but they tell you that in the info about the site in the directory and website so you know before you go. I've never come across any other site that requires the Green that doesn't say so in their site info.
I'm OK with the Green but my wife reckons it doesn't mask the smell as well and we have to empty more often so we stick with the Blue.

As has been mentioned many times before - there is no formaldehyde in any of the major cassette toilet products any more. They did away with it years ago.
We also use One Chem as it goes further and smells nice.
ok,strange thing is i have never been asked which one i use by any of the clubs, it is all down to choice i suppose.some like the smell of one additive and not the other.
