I am not sure what people mean by child friendly--CC sites do not have special rooms full of flashing, beeping machines aimed at taking money from the kids(or their parents) or a constant suply of chips, but most have a play area with equipment, wooded areas are common, no problem with space to run around, cycle, skooter etc. Children dont have to be entertained every waking minute, and club sites are a great place for them to make friends and revive the art of entertaining themselves. I have used the club sites for years and have never heard complaints about children eccept on the rare occasion of particularly unruly visitors. I suppose we all have different views of what is child friendly!

Totally agree,we have used CC sites with our children for the last ten years and will be at Longleat on Tuesday.

its not the club but the site owners who decide children or not.
I for one don’t wish the club house and lights and spend spend spend system. Children can and do make friends easy far more so than adults. and need so very little.
its the sue and blame claim life that we have become that makes folk say sod it its not worth it, how many pubs have to get rid of garden items because they don’t confirm to Insurance regs, its the same with sites.
one site we use has quite often a solo camper chap. he just likes to rest and chill, he also likes to see children happy and does magic tricks for them and balloon modelling for free, yet you can see parents telling their children no! when they want to go and be with other children to see him.
we have become a society of two types (in general) those who don’t control their children and seek a row with anyone who (like myself) tells a child or youth off when they are doing wrong. (If they are doing wrong and they know it “spitting swearing breaking or just being a pest they know it) with the right approach they will comply. All children want to be liked and accepted, they don’t want too many rules though. We never did so why should they. And then there are those who keep their children on a very tight leash that binds them and makes them in turn, cautious and insular.
Blame and Claim is at the root of the problem. its a insidious cancer that has crept into our lives from the USA and the sooner its gone the better. then we can return to a place that’s glad to accept all types. and allow and accept them.
For both those with children, and those who haven’t and don’t wish to be around and even those who are less fortunate. too many times those with disabled children are made to feel awkward by folk seeing and finding an excuses not to be near. Also several write on here how to keep their children quiet when the awake in the morning for fear of upsetting other campers!
as it was once said The Greatest Sound is the Sound of Children’s Laughter
The greater demand is what most site owners go for and alas it’s the Trilby and Cardigan mob that the CC clubs attract that have the greater voice. But it is changing and will do more so. And a good thing too. But also parents need to stop being so precious towards their children and more considerate to others by taking charge of their charges. Rather than “there’s a play area go away and give me rest at all costs.
plenty of choice in sites but its the (Benidorn) type that take up caravan and camping who ruin it for the greater. sites seek to make money and at present the choice is limited, its either whistle and bells or basic thats to be had. one day it will be perfect but until then its what we have got.

I was chatting the other day to someone whose parents had worked as wardens at a variety of different Caravan Club sites. Their feedback was that many (although not all) of the Caravan Club sites are not really child friendly and are more geared towards older adults. Do you think this is fair or not?
I did a reccy of a CC site last week which was close to where I was working at the time. I was immediately made quite uncomfortable upon pulling up to the wardens place/hut having been met by a scowling 'can I help you?' as if I'd taken a wrong turn and wasn't meant to be there. I introduced myself politely and said as I was working in the area I had just come to have a look as I was considering staying there in the near future to this still quite perplexed looking elderly gent.
He went off into his little shed and got a site plan and a brochure and said it was ok to have a look around, but also asked who I was looking around for again, "you've come to look for your parents?". It was a bit like he was implying that this sites not for you son, it's for the older ones. That's the impression I got at least. Shame as the prices are a lot more reasonable at £10pn against the other sites in the area at circa £25-30pn.

yep ! thats what the land owners in this area are like four diff sites all the same aloof attitude towards people not in their "gang" have had one shouting at me as I drove in and thru on a agricultural track/road that goes through the area. told them very politly that I was having a look at the site and location.as I was passing. and that also its a Bye Road anyway. was told we are full and this is private land please leave.
place was empty with the exception of three units on around 15 pitches. I tend to think its a case of having your cake and eating it. they want only their own type. fair enough its their choice but why put up Caravan and Campsite signs for all to view ???
