Hi we bought our Ranger 2207 470/4 in November last year and ive made a few posts and had very helpful answers mt 1 main remaining concern is the fact there is no water filter and was wondering has anyone ever fitted an internal one and if so where and how the only place i can see is under the seat where the water comes into van and there doesnt look like there is much room. And then i had a brainwave if i broke into the water pipe on the pump side and fitted the filter there would it work i cant see why not but im not a proper engineer lol i dont really want to start fitting an external filter housing into side of van

I'd fit an inline filter inside of the van, I think you'd be able to make one fit inside the van with a little planning...if you post pics of the water tank inside the van we might be able to help you with ideas..
I also have a Ranger 500/5 and have been thinking of one of these, I think it could fit quite nicely in the water heater chamber area? it wouldn;t need to be vertical I don;t think so could go on the left of the heater where not a lot else will fit?
I've got a Ranger and have always been happy NOT to have a water filter. It's one less thing to worry about come winter, and pretty pointless in any case. Why do you want one?

me too,do not intend to fit one but like to make sure the system has been cleaned with milton, including barrels and filler pipe.

Silly question time: will a flush through fix this? I have miltoned my water container, do i need to bring this into the system (followed by a flush through obviously)

yes you need to fill as normal.leave it in for one hour and drain, then fill with fresh water and flush out. do not leave it much longer as water heaters do not like milton.you can also use puriclean.

and before anyone says "my garden water tastes just the same" I mean drink it out of the end of your hosepipe, you will know what i mean, Out of the tap yes it tastes perfect, out of a plastic hoepipe it has a kind of taste that reminds me of army cadets and old style camping water containers...

Great, thanks Michael, nice cheap solution :)
if its a new caravan it may want the water pipes changed as this can cause a bad taste.they leak plasticizers into the water.changing the pipes cures this.

If I remember correctly some years ago there were compliants of a plastic taste from bailey water supplies. I believe that one of most successful solutions sugested was to flush your system with cheap orange squash!! Maybe do a search on this and other Forums

Have to agree with this. If a filter inlet is fitted to the van, I'd maintain it accordingly but IMHO there's no point or benefit in retro-fitting one. Several posts recently from users who've experienced damage to the inlet from frost damage to filters.
There's been some debate also regarding the quality of filters as some can be prone to actually being a breeding ground for contaminants.
