When you joined the above have you really considered if your getting value for money

Having look at most of the sites they are very basic some have power points if your lucky, and the night charges are most of the time higher than a well equipped site.

With the amount of money taken every years there sites should be all singing all dancing fully serviced pitches, and a at best no more than £10 a night for members

As I have said on a number of threads we did not believe the Camping & Caravan club offered good value in their sites or other offers. We left.

I really don't see it as a "club" in the accepted sense i.e. for the benefit of members. It is a commercial organisation - an expensive one.

I have no experience of the Caravan club but I do not believe this to be any different.

Others will disagree.

"there sites should be all singing all dancing fully serviced pitches"
But not everyone wants an all singing site - fully serviced pitches aren't much use if you tent camp!!

"Having look at most of the sites they are very basic some have power points if your lucky"
I'd love to know which C&CC sites you've been looking at as every one I have been to has had excellent facilities, EHU and play areas - we particulalry like the Barnard Castle site.

I camp at C&CC sites, attend their meets and rallies, use their CS and THS which offer fantastic value for money and are open to members only.
I personally feel I get very good value for money and am quite happy to pay my subscription each year.
I am also a member of the CC.

If you don't like it and feel it isn't right for you, then don't be a member - simples!!

We've used lots of C&CC sites & love them.  We've never come across a club site that doesn't have EHU???

We've just come home today from a brilliant week at Blackmore (Worcestershire).  We've also stayed on commercial sites & whilst we don't save much on site fees with C&CC we always find the pitches are a good size (not crammed in like sardines) & the sites are generally better kept.

We get the monthly magazine (an annual subscription to most magazines would cost more than the C&CC membership fee) & we also have our van insured through them which was over £60 cheaper than the next nearest contender.  So I think we more than get our £39 worth.

Would have to disagree with this one... The 40 quid membership was worth it for our 10 night stay at Damage Barton in Devon...

It all depends on what services you use, not just with the C+CC, but the Caravan Club too. It's not really fair to say you have saved your membership with two weeks on one of their sites as you could probably have made similar savings by shopping around for a cheaper site in my opinion.

The big savings are with the CL and CS networks along with the rallies and temporary holiday sites. These offer huge savings on the prices of commercial sites. The club sites in my opinion are over priced in most cases in comparison to similar non-club sites.

You can stay on a CL or CS for under £6 a night with EHU in most cases and often have a toilet available as well. They are not usually as well equipped as "proper" sites for that price, but are generally a lot friendlier and you would be hard pushed to find a proper site for that sort of money, even without EHU.

There are 5 van sites that are well equipped and are still significantly cheaper than a proper site.

You don't have to have many nights on a 5 van site or a rally to save your membership fee. This time of year, you can easily spend £40 on site fees in a weekend. You could have change of £15 if you spend the same weekend on a rally field or a 5 van site. You don't need many weekends away to save the £40 membership fee then.

we are members, we go on some of the rallies etc, but we joined them mainly for the sites, we usually us the certificated ones, and usually pay £4-£6pn, and a pretty decent mag into the bargain.

If you want "all singing and dancing" sites, you find them and use them. We have been members of the C&CC for 42 years and use the sites just because they are NOT "all singing and dancing" We like a well run and clean site that we can relax on. We also use he holiday sites and rallies where the average price per unit night is about £6.00.

If by all singing and dancing you mean a club house, bar karaoke etc then i think that is what Haven Holiday sites etc are for.

We have been members for 6 years and it costs us £25 a night as there are 5 of us and we have only been to the C&CC sites like Winchcombe, Blackmore etc as the facilities are superb - but we are very much fair weather campers!

In the summer we are going to a private site and paying £38 a night because it is next to a 'perfect' beach but really is is no better than C&CC for facilities and isn't all singing all dancing either.

So to summarise lol
We are members because we like the sites with excellent facilities and the fact they don't have bars etc!

I have just joined the C&CC and my first trip to a club site will be on Monday 6th June. As a solo camper with the age concession I have been charged £9.55 a night on a grass pitch with EHU. I consider that extremely good value for money and in line with what I expected when I joined. I accept that I have had to fork out £39 to join but I hope to recover that by the end of the year, bearing in mind that on ordinary sites I would normally have to pay much more than £9.55.

I am a little confused that people are suggesting CS's are only about £6 a night. Certainly the ones I have looked at seem to base their charges on two adults and two children and do not allow the age concession, so unless I have worked it out wrongly they seem to charge anything from £10 to £14 or more a night. There is no indication on the website whether or not there is a concession for solo campers. It appears to me and I am happy to be corrected, that CS's are, on the whole, dearer than club sites for solo campers at least.

Definitely worth the money for caravanners, unfortunately this  no longer applies to many tent campers by whom and for whom the club was founded.

To be honest we use more CC sites than C&CC sites, but we are members of both, as someone said you get a monthly magazine included in the fee which works out at about the same as a subscription to something like Practical caravan. All the CSs, CLs, Club sites etc that we have used have EHU and nice sized pitches, some smaller sites have hardstanding and mains water too. We (including our 2 kids (10 & 18 so we don't make the choice for them) like the quieter sites and the clubs both provide what we want, somewhere to spend quality family time together.
