After spending a week away in our van (bought January) we've decided that the layout isn't the best for us.  We've put ads on here, Gumtree, Preloved & Caravan Selecta. 

We'd be interested to hear from anyone who's sold a van privately as to which were the most effective sites to advertise on before we start putting it on places like caravanfinder (£35), ebay etc... that would cost to advertise - don't mind paying as long as it'll work!

And if anyone has time to look & tell us whether our ad is any good (what major things we've missed out etc...) please feel free!!!

We don't want to trade in as we don't want to go more expensive - just a different layout & we're likely to get more for it selling privately leaving us with more to spend on another van...

We sold ours on ebay.  I did put ads on here, gumtree and preloved a couple of days before i put it on ebay and left it on for the 10 days i originally had it listed for.  It didn't sell that time so i relisted it the next day with a buy it now and it sold within the hour.  I left it on the above sites until it was collected the following Saturday.  In that time i had a few queries about it from those sites but no interest in viewing it.

Obviously that is my own experience which is based on selling one caravan on ebay :)

I suppose that's how it goes selling privately - you have to be prepared to be messed around a bit & hold out for a decent price.  I know we could sell straight to a dealer but they'd only offer part-ex value.  Again, the price you pay for the convenience I suppose & at the end of the day they have to be able to make a profit on it.

I've put a classified on ebay that lasts 28 days so we'll see what happens over the next few weeks with it...  I've been browsing for vans with the layout we want but have had to make myself stop looking - there's one in particular that's about a mile from where we store ours that looks & sounds perfect but I can guarantee it'll be sold by the time we've sold ours (or if it isn't I'll be wondering why!).
