Hi posse, Must have been a private site (maybe), peak season, additional adults or children, extra car. All add up £36 dose seem a bit greedy, mind you if it were a haven site, that would be very cheep. Cant say I have ever noticed if the size of van was charged by footage, though the CC ask you to state size of van on the booking form on web, that is so the can make sure your van will fit the pitch. Would be interesting to know if some sites charge by the size of van.

yep these camp sites are getting worse,we used to tent we have now got a caravan,I can't see why they should charge extra for the same size pitch maybe we should start and open are mouths and say why, we get the same size pitch even when booking with awning. We have had 2 breaks away,1st was 19.75 per night 2nd 25 have booked another 27 per night daughter is coming with tent same price all in Anglesy.
Supply and demand; everywhere is getting expensive. In high season, for two adults and two kids a pitch at the Looe, Cornwall C.C. site will cost you £23.35 a night.
we have a 26 footer, and do consider this when booking as i have seen some sites will insist on a larger pitch at a slightly higher cost....but not as much as you have suggested.
they're blummin expensive anyway - £24.50 per night in high season for any pitch with ehu, & that only covers for 2 adults (& dogs if you have them) any kids or extra adults there's supplements on top - and if your stay encompasses weekends or bank hols more supplements yet. Very expensive imo.
Personally unless you actually need a bigger than standard pitch I think it's a colossal rip-off to charge people extra for bigger caravans.
Hi there all, I am just starting camping again after 35 years and I can see that the equipment is totally different now, better lighter tents. Could anyone tell me what the average price per night, might be for a 5- man tent in say the lakes or yorkshire dales. Thanks Arroweddie.

Hi ArrowEddie - I think you need to put this post in the tent bit to get help really...
We have had a struggle to find a site in Anglesey hubby got a fishing trip booked,Had to book at Fedw Uchaf in Dulas 19th to 22nd Aug £27 per nightDaughter in a tent 8 man same price another couple with us 2 man tent £22 . better be good or else.22nd -24th booked at Hirdre Fawr Farm £17 per night both include awning and hook up?This is the difference you get but if you need to be at a certain place then what can you do.
it also amazes me how a tent can be cheaper than a van on the sites where they seem to be mixed and not in seperate fields also tents get electric as well and looking at some of the tents today they are huge and sometimes take up more space than a van so hows that work, my opinion is the cost of a pitch should be fixed to same for all and you put on it what you can fit ie awning, pup tent etc etc
