Yes, it's great being retired and being able to use the van a lot, but for most, that is not an option.
We bought our last van in 1998 and used it as much as holidays permitted....about 6 weeks per year. Over 9 seasons we had great holidays, both here and abroad.
When we sold it in 2008, purchase price minus sale price was about £8000 for 9 years use, plus servicing, insurance, and of course holiday costs.
Not that bad I think, and we could holiday as we wished.
Now we are away 4-5 months each year, we are "quids in".

To be honest if our van stood for over a year and was not being used then i think i would sell her reasons.This is what i think i would do.
1 if i was paying for storage/insurance/service then there would be a saving put that money to one side and save it.
2 sell now so as not to loose money invest the money along with storage fees etc.
3 Then if i had the time to go caravaning i would use the money from the sale/storage investment to buy a more up to date van,
Yes we love our vans but why waste good earned money on them if they are not being used.
