I'm not sure if anyone can help here ..i have recently bought a 1998 compass omega 490/5 but the key for the casette toilet and then battery compartment is missing...The door key is different as i have been told that key should fit all round..obviously at some point the lock to that has been changed.
I am told all i need is the key number and i can go and buy one..I am therefore wandering whether if anyone has an omega compass caravan whether they have a number for the key for these compartments so i could maybe go and try one at a caravan shop....same year i think would be handy...I'm not sure if they will all be the same number for the same model..
can anyone shed any light on this for me please...
Thetford make these type of doors for the toilet cassette, battery compartment door and outside lockers. They are called service doors and each have a different number as there are different types. I have provided a link for you and if you click on the 2 PDF files you can identify which Number service doors you have ie. service door 2 or 3 etc. If you don't have any joy in obtaining a key then you might have to change the barrels accordingly with key supplied. This doesn't solve your problem but at least you could contact the company to see if they supply the locks or keys you need. Good luck and hope you have some success.
Thank you . Michael does that WD 888 - fit anything.. If I got one will it fit is that what Yr saying ... Might end up changing barrel in one of locks.. Guy said today number is inside... Break into one and get number for the other and then just change barrel in one... End up with 3 keys but will save buying 2 barrels
Update - had text off my mum and she says she will get me the key number - she did get told that if she lost the keys she would have to replace the lot
When I lost my caravan keys I managed to get new ones off the internet - its just finding if they do replacements that will match yours.
Hope this helps

I think I'd be a bit worried if too many other peoples keys all fitted my van!
I think you will find that the only way to replace them is to find the number on your own locks. I dismantled a door lock once when the key broke and the number was inside the lock. The only thing is that the door was open so it was easy to do. Would it be worth contacting the seller in case there were other keys you weren't given?
The WD and MC series locks are made by West Alloy with the MC series being the very old ones. I'm not too sure that anyone should be posting their key number on here as it could make their caravan a bit vulnerable and I somehow don't think their insurers would approve.....
Take a look here for diagram and contact details etc West Alloy

Cheers birder I will have a look... Well don't like to tell you but according to 3 caravan dealers they are like generic keys... Just need the number key and that's it... He did even say today they aren't the best locks in the world so I wouldn't worry too much.. Let's face it if someone is gonna break into it ... They will do even if you have the highest security in the world .... Thanks for your help !
Not sure how many there are in the WD series of keys but the MC series only had about 40 differing numbers... My late father had the full set and was forever getting called out by people who had mislaid their keys or had suffered the design fault of the door locking itself if slammed to with just the right force. If you can find someone with the WD set you might be able to find the correct key by trial and error.

Thank you.. I have been told to take the van to dealer and they will try all the keys to find out which one and then we can just buy a key... Had a look on west alloy site but not much help to me really... But thank you as the rest of Yr info has been very useful ..
Many thanks
no just a number i made up 888,sounds like lock and barrel replacement is the way to go.if you can take out the barrel the number may be on there.example below
