We do France every year and it does reach those temps sometimes. We're grateful for the aircon:
The top reading is outside, the second reading inside.

Hi. If in the sun all day then yes, they do get warm. Its only really bad if you've been out all day & its been locked up. Obviously, leaving blinds closed is a must. Once the windows are open though its fine. Most vans have a roof fan by the kitchen, & this is usually reversible, to blow & extract. This helps. When the children were very small I used to take a desk fan that kept it nice. Would have loved AC in France recently, but it wasnt unbearable. On the hottest days we decamped to the shade of a tree for a few hours in the afternoon. If your going somewhere hot, dont just grab the first pitch you see, have a walk around to find a nice shady one.
Also, newer vans have better insulation, so this should keep them a little cooler. (And warmer in Winter). Roof mounted A/C has to be the ultimate, but not cheap.
We tow our 1500kg Swift Challenger with our 54' Galaxy. Its a 130hp TDi model & tows the caravan very easily. It is very stable on the road. We tried towing with a Sorrento, but much prefer the practicality of the Galaxy. (35mpg when running around solo is an added bonus). When towing, the Galaxy returned about 27mpg, which is pretty good considering its size.
Off to France early one morning. (Seems like so long ago now...)
:-)
