We have now had our Lunar Solar 524 for about six weeks and have just come back from a dirty weekend* at a CL near Kendal. We have hit upon one small but significant problem: the instructions that came with the caravan do not correspond to the loo. The booklet tells us to refill the toilet's flush by swinging out a funnel just above the cassette.
There is no funnel just above the cassette.
There is, however, a small (four inch square?) lockable door above the cassette locker which looks like it might be intended for refilling the loo. It appears that there is a large diameter pipe inside but this cannot noticeably be removed.
Could someone please help us to refill our loo?
Thanks,
Luke
* really, really dirty. Filthy. Made Glastonbury look like something other than a mud bath.

The Thetford cassette loo with the funnel just above the cassette is known as the C4 model and the toilet itself is much like a bench type and the one that you are referring to is the C200 and the toilet is more like the one you have at home which swivels on the base. The little exterior door just above the cassette door is indeed the access to the top up tank. The first link is the C4 type and the second link the C200 type.
Thats where we fill our loo on our Alpine 2, we use a small plastic watering can with a long spout [the sort you would use on houseplants] Hope this helps
Thanks. We were rather worried that we were just going to end up pouring water and pink stuff down the back of the loo and causing an embarrassing flood.

Just pour about an egg cup full of Pink fluid into the access hole then add fresh water to top up with a watering can without the sprinkler attached, that's what I do.
Just a thought, but myself and others have given up putting the pink in, as while its in storage it can congeal in those difficult to clean areas and can make the flusher stick..
Cost me a call out fee + an hourly rate to find that out. Was not best pleased!

You can purchase a tank cleaner manufactured by Thetford for cleaning the flush tank out but always remember to drain all the fluid out if left in storage during winter as it can freeze and damage vital parts within the holding tank etc.
At this time of year best to only fill it with enough for present use and empty at end of each trip. You don't want it freezing up.
As a matter of interest only, we travel with all the water holders, e.g. heater and flush empty. For both stability and less weight.

I pre mix the flush 'pink' and water in a 5 litre plastic carrier (used to have washing up liquid in it) and then use it to fill the flush tank. That way I know exactly what concentration of flush fluid is in the tank as I am convinced it is over dosing with the 'pink' that causes problems with black bits and blockages. I use the same carrier to drain the unused flush water into before hooking up for the journey home.

I have tried using a small amount of the thetford pink but still got the black bits, since the change to Elsan pink no more black bits, no matter what concentrate of pink I use, I fill flush tank with the shower hose, I have the C4 with the swing out filler.
birder99, like the idea of draining the unused flush water, seamed a waste just to flush it down drain unused.
