We currently have an FC with beds left made up all the time so have duvets. We are thinking about changing to a caravan after next year. Question is if you don't have fixed bed  are sheets and duvets too much hassle? I'm not keen on sleeping bags, always seem to get in a tangle!

We always use a duvet on the fixed bed as it is made up all the time. Daughter uses a sleeping bag on the 'front seat' as a single. When we made up beds every day we used sleeping bags, but often used it unzipped as a double - 1 sleeping bad laid out on the bottom to sleep on, the other one on the top as a quilt.

We used to find the biggest bind about using a quilt is the under sheet. If you are making up a double bed daily, on idea might be to use a sleeping bag opened out to sleep on and a quilt on top. The trouble with a sheet on the bottom of a made up double is that the bottom is made up of a number of cushions and because of the thin nature of the sheet, it could end up anyhow. a sleeping bag on the bottom would be more substantial/ padded and therefore would probably be more comfortable. Another idea is to make a cover for the bottom opened out sleeping bag, rather like a quilt cover. Just a few thoughts.

Hi Chris We use king size sleeping bags. Good quality ones which keep you nice and snug. However I prefer to have mine unzipped down the side, nearly to the bottom so it is mostly open. This way I find I do not feel restricted so much as I do when it is fully zipped. I lay on a fleecy blanket, bought from Ikea, which adds to the cosyness.

I would suggest slrrping bags.  Many zip together when required.  Me and `er got ours before we were married (!) about 36 years ago now, from ASDA.  Cheapos they were.  Comfortable then and now.  And so easy to store in the caravan.

Make it easy on yourself . .

when we had vans before we had duvets, then we went back to camping and I got too cold with the duvet so got a couple of Gelert Muscovy sleeping bags which are ace.  Now we're back in a van we've been using a duvet again but I'm considering whether or not to use the bags again.  We fit a fitted sheet to the cushions so it's just like being in bed at home

We had sleeping bags when we didn't have the fixed bed but now we have we use a duvet, problen with sleeping bags is washing them, it's expensive at a launderette but wont fit in the washing machine at home.

Sheets can be fiddly on a "make it up every day" bed so just buy a kingsize duvet to sleep on.

Before I had a fixed bed I used duvet and used a folded blanket under a fitted sheet on the single bunks. If you get a fitted sheet of the correct size they only take seconds to fit and they are easy to wash. I would not want to try washing a sleeping bag if away for a couple of weeks or so and although the liners help I find they are too constricting and end up wrapped tightly around me. I still use sleeping bags for camping though, mainly because my camping trips tend to be for a couple of nights only and duvets are not so easy to manage in the tent.

We use duvets for all 5 of us. We like the comfort. We have fixed triple bunks and are left made up all of the time. For the front double bed we use an Ikea mattress topper that is covered by a fitted sheet permanently.When putting it away we leave the duvet and pillows in place and roll it up (like a Swiss roll) and retain with two bungee straps. We then store this on the top bunk although other store theirs in the shower(dry of course). We find this makes the bed making so much quicker and very comfy
