Its the time of year when our recovery membership is up but this is our first year with a caravan.
I usually buy RAC recovery for the roadside, at home and onward travel through our tesco clubcard vouchers but think I remember reaidng on here that it wouldnt cover our caravan. Is that right... so you'd just need to leave it?
What cover does cover the caravan, I'm keen to avoid expensive cover given that our vouchers is such a cheap way of doing it as we dont really use them for anything else and have no option but shopping at tescos where we live
If you belong to the C&CC you can have RAC ARRIVAL which covers caravan and car breakdown. So if for any reason the caravan becomes un-towable it will be transported to your pre-booked site and if not repaired before homeward journey will then be taken home.I use my tesco vouchers to subscribe to caravan magazine and also admission charges when on holiday.
From past forums, I seem to remember that cover from either CC or C&CC are fine, cover direct with any company direct can be suspect as they have length and height limitations which ae not necassarily obvious from there documents, and some wont recover both car and caravan, or wont recover caravan if that is the part thats the unit thats broken down, etc etc.

It looks as if, on your existing cover, they would arrange recovery but you'd have to pay the additional cost. - "We can also arrange for your caravan or trailer to be recovered but you'll need to meet any additional costs yourself." (from their website).
As suggested, you could go through the Camping and Caravanning Club for RAC Arrival, or the Caravan Club for Mayday (provided by Green Flag), or have a look at Britannia Rescue (see page 4 for caravan/trailer cover).
Some good reccomendations tho I doubt if many people have used a number of different services to allow them to make comparisons and can only comment on info from internet forums. I've only had the one service over many years, Autonational. They cover either or both car and van with no length restriction and have used, as have other members of family, a couple of times and found them to be prompt and efficent. Cost is £63 per year for full cover which includes home start but NOT Europe. I think you need to research whats on offfer and choose what suits you................Mick
I have checked and through C and CC (which I'm a member) would cost me about 170 for the kind of cover I get with clubcard (with no caravan cover)..
do you have to be a CC member to join Mayday?
That kind of figure is just too high when clubcard costs me nothing... I'm thinking maybe worth the risj and pay for caravan recovery if necessary, particularly as we don't ever go too far (probably a max of 2 hour drive)
We have full cover via the CC Mayday, we recently renewed it at £89.
Have used it once, van was towed to our site we were on the way to, and next day we and the car were transported to dealer of our choice. Very good service.
