This is Coll at his first camp.

18 weeks old and in between snoozes, full of mischief.

While sitting on the loo, he sneaked into the loo tent and made off with the loo paper.

Not just the sheets like the Andrex Puppy. Oh no, he was off with the whole bloomin' roll.

enjoy yourself and abide by site rules regarding dogs. most insist they have to be on leads round the site and ask you to clean up after them. You do get to know what your dogs likes and dislikes are and can plan your trips accordingly.

My border collie is 17 now and she still comes camping with us. We do go to the same site every year and as they know us so well they don't insist on her being tethered outside the tent as they know she has really bad athritis and can't walk more than a few yards. She loves lying just outside the tent door so she can watch everyone going past. ocassionally we have had other dog owners complaining that she should be fastened up but as soon as we point out that we do have permission from the owners due to her age,and the fact she can barely stand let alone go off and cause trouble for other campers most of them are fine and we often have people wanting to fuss her just because of her age and lovely nature.

One tip is to keep a large towel handy to save your upholstery from an excited, wet & muddy dog.

Dont let your dog roam off the lead - not everyone likes dogs

ALWAYS clean up after him/her.

If you go for long walks (specially in the summer) remember to take water with you.

Particularly with a puppy remember to take their favourite toy and blanket with you. The caravan will feel strange to them at first and something familiar will make them feel at home

Keep a dedicated doggybag in the van with things like a waterbottle, poobags etc in it. You then have all you need at hand for walks.

Choose a county that is dog friendly. This may sound strange but when we were recently in Cheshire (near Chester) dogs seemed to be frowned upon. Whenever we went out for a walk or explore and then became thirsty or hungry we were never allowed in a pub or cafe with the dog. We saved so much money that week but to be honest it was money that could have gone into the local economy. We wont go back to cheshire again.
