I'm looking for an awning for my Lunar Chateau. Both NR and Dorema currently have good factory discounts on their websites, so I'm finding it hard to choose between them. I'm sure everyone will have their favourites, but which of the two makes is generally the best in terms of quality? I hear NR customer service is second to none... how are Dorema in this respect?
A vote for NR. I use their executive for seasonal use. It was bought for touring but was so impressed with the quality I now uae it for the seasonal pitch. I needed an annexe quick. I rang them up in the morning but they were out of stock but they said they would try and get one made that afternoon. I received it by courier the next morning. They are very helpful on the phone.

We had a Dorema awning which I had some mixed feelings about. The only awning I have ever had which suffered from pooling on the roof. One of our fibre poles split and overall felt the quality of the poles were not as good as other fibre poles. 'Canvas' (Tencate) was light, but v.good.
Had a quick look at the NR website and although I don't know the latest range, they are looking good to me.

We had had both makes of awnings and did prefer the Dorema.
It had quick lock pads and fibre glass poles, which we had no problems with.
I was just waiting for you to come in to fly the Dorema flag, Jusy.
Jusy supports Dorema like I support the Kampa Fiesta!
Never had an NR awnig but have had two Dorema Montana's and happy with both. Used quick lock pads and steel poles. The 2nd one, new last year, had quick release fittings on the poles which made tensioning much easier.

Long as you are happy with it, thats the main thing
If I can just develop this thread a little, I'm looking to trade in my fullsize Quest Blenheim awning which does not fit our new van and invest in a XL porch awning, something like the Dorema Omega XL. We have a Kampa 200 for weekends away which is great but we need something a bit bigger and substantial for longer stays. Any suggestions? I'm a bit bewildered by the choice of manufacturers to be honest and difficult to get a handle on who are good, bad or indifferent. Do any dealers take good condition awnings in part-ex I wonder?
In the end I decided to buy the British-made product, so I have just ordered a new NR 4-Season awning plus accessories. My Cabanon tent is made of the same TenCate All-Season material, and I'm very impressed with it. Looking forward to receiving my new awning now!
