You need a tyre of correct load index & twin axles normally have car tyres anyway. Theres no such thing as caravan tyres, heavier single axle caravans have commercial van tyres fitted. If you are not towing far & tyre is not repairable a budget car tyre should do the job. What is size are tyres? post up entire size & load rating, it might be something like 185/70 R14 88 T
dont go touring , its just from storage to park ??
It flies then rather than goes via the road, or is storage in the park? Get the correct tyre for the job. You may this useful

I have to agree with Phil saying get the correct tyre for the job. My phylosophy is that you wouldn't put budget tyres on a high performance Ferrari so why make cut backs on safety with your caravan. It's the only object between your caravan and the road so it's best to apply the correct tyre that's designed for the purpose disregards how far you travel.

My son is a tyre fitter. IT IS AGAINST THE LAW to fit a car tye on a van or caravan rim. It contravenes the Construction and Use regulations.
This is not true. Lightweight caravans or twin axles can use use car tyres of correct load index. Heavier single axles require van tyres. Load index as marked on tyre gives max weight allowed on that tyre(google for tyre load index table)provided the max allowed weight on the 2 or 4 tyres add up to more than max on road weight of caravan you are ok.
For example car tyre mentioned in my earlier post is load index of 88, this allows 560kg max weight on tyre so 560kg X 4 = 2.24tonnes, more than adequate for any touring twin axle.
thnks for the reply its a 155/80 r13 79t cant see what ply it is , i think i need to change all 4 tyres because they have been on the van for at least 5 years ,
Yes they are just car tyres, size is easily available in premium, mid range or budget makes. If you are towing any distance I'd go for at least mid range, if just a few miles budget will do. Max weight of caravan should be under 1748kg.
Nothing wrong with budget tyres on a caravan. The important thing as Tentz says is that they are the correct load rating (and probably even more importantly kept inflated to correct pressure!)
Caravan tyres aren't subject to same forces and loads that cars exert on their tyres so providing they are to correct spec any tyre should be fit for purpose
As above though why not see if it can be repaiered first and then check out your other tyres to see if they show signs of cracking and splitting. 5 years is a guide nothing else
In all honesty I have found very little difference in price for 'caravan/commercial' tyres as opposed to car tyres anyway, so you may as well fit the correct ones.

max for the caravan is 1600kg , are these the corrct tyres for the caravan , they were on the van when i bought them , this tyre has no cracks but have noticed on 1 other. will take it to the tyre fitter 2morrow & ask him , but they always say that it needs 2 be changed when it doesnt ?
The load index is adequate for 'van so they are correct. If they are much more than 5yrs old I would suggest you replace all 4 unless the towing distance is only a few miles on minor roads. Its your choice really.
