Be carefull when u wash them without washing the grit off first by a hose or throwing a bucket of water on them.If u dont small minute grains of dirt will scratch them.I use Showroom shine on them and dont have to worry about grit etc,it brings them up first class and a brilliant shine..
I use Autoglym Fast Glass both inside and out. It cleans a treat and leaves no smears. I also carry a bottle of Showroom Shine for on site cleaning of the van if it has been a dirty trip.

The road can be tough and rough, but what you put in you get back 10 x more.
On my last older van there were tell tale scratches over all the windows, probably due to not being washed with copious water before polishing.
The miracle cure I was recommended was to use Aircraft cockpit cleaner available from Ebay. This is in effect a very fine type of T cut. With a bit of elbow grease the smears / scratches polished out to a marvelous clear shine
