A lot of the televisions in caravans are connected from the 240v mains via a transformer which supplies 12v DC to the tele. The trouble is that caravan voltage fluctuates and this can cause problems with teles that are designed to run with a constant 12v. You can buy rectifiers to eliminate this or get an inverter which turns 12v DC into 240v AC.
Some teles such as avtex are designed to be run from mains or caravan 12 DC supply. But of course they are much dearer.

I regularly use my Aldi or Tesco cheap TVs without any problems on 12V. This only applies if the transformer is in the power lead - if it's in the TV, you're stuck with 230V only, unless buying more expensive TVs.
I bought a cheap Technika tv from Tesco, which runs on 12v perfectly. It has the transformer in the lead. (It also is our kitchen tv when not in the camper)
If you get one of these or similar, you will need a 12v lead to plug into the tv from your van, available from evilBay for a couple of pounds.

Most smaller TVs run on 12v and have a transformer to convert 240v to 12v. The only problem might be that caravans don't supply 'true 12v'. It varies with battery charge and needs a stabiliser to regulate power. See this article.
They may work but its a gamble. If they are cheap enough then worth the risk.
