just got back from our first week away in our little eldiss ,i think the advancing years and advancing waistline have made a difference to how we sleep .
the question is this ,do any of you use anything a-top the bed cushions when going to bed ,i.e mattress toppers ,self inflating mats ,air beds ,foam or memory foam etc ,we tend to like using a duvet over us at night but what to put under is the problem
We use a second duvet, a good 13.5tog quilt evens out the irregularities quite well.

We have a memory foam topper than we got from B&M (about £25 I think) which is 2.5 cms and a 10 tog duvet with cover on underneath, and a duvet on top. Tog of top duvet depends on time of year. Works for us.

Last year we invested in two duvalays from Raskelf and think it was the best thing we have purchased. They are very comfortable and with the storage bags easy to put out / away and keep nice and clean. Not a cheap option but I am sure they will last for years and the quality is excellent.......they will probably be doing some offers at the NEC so if you are interested in one best wait for the show!

We have Duvalays as well, expensive but they appear on eBay from time to time. A great investment. We also turn the cushions over so they are flatter to sleep on.
We have two 3" memory foam toppers in there own covers and a stretch jersey sheet all rolled up and fastened with a Velcro strap so at bed time we just roll them out and throw the pillows and duvet on and way to go so comfy.
Another vote for Duvalays - absolutely superb. If you're not in a hurry they usually have a sale once a year, I think in November. About the only downside ia that they are a bit bulky to store when they're rolled up.
Another vote for memory foam. We also turn the cushions over to flatten it out. Then we have a memory foam topper which we have inside a quilt cover which acts as a sealed bottom sheet so we dont have to fight with a loose bottom sheet each night. Then we use a quilt over us. Seems to work ok for us.
we have an Ikea bed protector/topper inside a homemade duvet type cover which is longer than the protector....just roll it out on the bed, tuck it in at the ends and bed made
we did it orignally cos we were fed up with tucking in sheets, but found it also made it much more comfy.
