The builders start work next Thursday on our bungalow putting another dormer on the rear for a 3rd upstairs bedroom, so daughter will be in the tiny downstairs bedroom and the only place for us to go is in the 2 berth caravan after bringing it home from storage on Tuesday, will leave the bed made up so we just fall into it.

Think its going to be about a month in all, a bit worried as after only 3 nights hubby is off on business and I'll potentially be out there on my own.

Hope the weather stays mild for October.

We also did that in the summer 2010.  Bought a larger bungalow that needed gutting - easier to do all in one rather than room-by-room, so parked the van on the front lawn and lived in it for 3 months.  I laid on water, elec, Sky+, broadband and waste water, so the only thing to do was to empty the toilet every 2-3 days.

Had to park it on the lawn as the driveway was required for supplies in and rubbish out.

Just a thought to let the neighbours know that its just a temporary arrangement. Someone may object and report it to the Local Authority. Presumably there are n ocovenants prohibiting caravans on drives. Just mention it as if there is someone will know and may object. I think its called sods law!!

Thanks all for you interest in this, have already warned next door of noise from builders and got a positive reply, have had the caravan home a couple of times for a few nights to wash etc, so it's not a surprise that we have one.

Don't think I would like to lend mine out either Murano! Just wish it was bigger than a 2 berth for the forth coming project.

Just after we bought our first caravan, a friend of my mothers asked if she could borrow our caravan whilst it was on a seasonal pitch in North Wales, and being rather young and foolish (and also very greatful for a financial boost to buy the caravan from mum) I said yes.

I hated every minute that week when I knew someone else was using my new Caravan, it was a kind of intuition, as when we went to tow it home off site the following week, not only was it left very dirty inside, but they had managed to burn a hole in the upholstry with a cigarette end.

We have been asked again at various times during our caravanning career, and by various people, but we just decline and blame the insurance cover, saying were not insured for commercial lettings, or if its someone we dont mind sharing with, we follow that statement on by inviting them to come and stay in our awning for a few days next time we are away, at least then we can keep an eye on our much loved pride and joy and rest assured that its being treated with a good degree of care.

Readi9ng this with interest as we may be int his position too and hubby has said we could live 'on site' in the'van. The house we have our eye on has the space but we just need to sell our house first!

I too couldn't let anyone (especially a stranger) live in our precious 'van!
