Elddis Wisp 350/2, small lightweight, comfortable and well equipped , Can be towed by most cars. I got mine off e-bay for £700 including brand new full awning & porch awning plus loads of extra's.
Hi, We are currently selling our Elddis Wisp 350/2 1991 on here and is also on ebay. Good condition, owned 3 years, only 780kgs laden, only cold water and porta potti, external aerial connection. Great little van and everything works and docs with it. We have both NR Porch awning and very good condition NR full awning available depending on price we get for it. Problen is we are in Wrexham, North Wales.
Any 2 berth caravan priced at around £600 will be around 1990 vintage & has an equal chance of being in dry condition or riddled with damp in which case it will be little better than scrap so perhaps the op would be better taking advice on how to spot a damp free caravan rather than going on a recommendation of any specific make, any of which could be as good or as bad as each other.
Would it matter if it had a bit of damp for the money being paid? Im not talking green mold in corners, but less than perfect would surely still give the OP a few years use before it was actually scrapped.
Running round looking for a totally damp-free van could cost more in fuel than the van is worth. Now would be a good time to search. If a van is damp, it will certainly show up this time of year. Id use the 'nose' test' If it smells ok when you go in, it cant be that bad with or without a bit of damp.
It would depend on the amount of damp, there is no harm in going around the outside an old caravan on a warm dry day with a mastic gun & filling every gap you can see, it has worked for me ok. But one would need to ascertain if there is any serious damp & a small caravan is less likely to be damp than a large one due to less body flex.
our 1991 Elddis Wisp 350/2 has no damp, solid great little van just basic, we have owned for 3 years and had great holidays with it and its been subject to some awful weather.
floor solid, do discolouring of wallpaper - moisture salt containers used over winter period.
as i say towed it with 1.6 petrol peugeot 306 initially.
on for £800 on here but reasonable offers will be considered
It was the 2 berth Europa with the end washroom We loved it as the end washroom was roomy. My OH has just reminded me we towed it with 1.7 CDTi Meriva not petrol. The diesel was a little heavier which made the towing capacity better. There are sites on here which do tow matches so just check when you decide on a van. Better to be on the safe side and may save money in the long run.
