After working as a mechanical production engineer for thelast 16 years i'm thinking of a change. i've been looking into becoming a mobile engineer. At the moment it would be a part time thing as i work shifts but if it took off i would go full time.
So who of you out there regularly uses a mobile engineer???
any current mobile engineers on here want to offer any advice???

i will in the future, as my van stays on seasonal pitch, only moved it off before to have services done for warranty, when warranty ends at the back end of this year i will just get a mobile engineer out to service it instead of dragging it around to get it serviced
Mobile service engineers are always cheaper as they don't have the overheads to consider but the only down side with this is that some caravan owners who keep their caravan in storage may need prior permission from the site owner first as they are reluctant to allow unauthorised access on site without an agreement. I'm not talking about basic unsecured storage sites but the compounds which are CaSSOA registered as they have to adhere to strict security rules. It can usually be arranged but the site owner will normally request that the caravan owner remains with the service engineer without being absent at any time which can be off putting for some but basically there is a market out there which you may possibly find that it's more limited to those who keep there vans outside their own property rather than those in storage that are more likely to seek mobile servicing.
Its a no-brainer. Why have all the hassle of carting your van often many miles, when you can get a bloke (or bloke-ess?) to come to you. Far more convenient, and far cheaper. It also helps if theres a snag of some kind, and a decision has to be made there and then.
Never thought of that thanks bessie, I will go and have a mooch around the T'interweb.
Apart from the cost, it's such pain dragging absolutely everything out beforehand and stowing it all back in again when its been done. I can understand the need to get access to all areas to do the damp test but not completely empty.
We use one - he's warranty-approved and very helpful (not that the warranty bit matters with a van of our age!). He seems to cover a huge distance though, so his fuel costs must be huge!
hi pickled onion i use a guy from warrington off that list, you never know he might cover your area.
last year whilst our van was on a seasonal pitch we developed a issue with our electrics, I called the service guy as i had his number of his service sticker, he got in touch with his mate who covered the chatsworth area 1 hour later the repair was done, and for a reasonable price
