We have two cars, both of which we can use for my mobility scooter.
The tow car is a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which is fitted with a crane type hoist. That cost us about £1500, but is the easiest way to deal with it.
As a backup, my wife changed her car for a Berlingo Multispace, and she is delighted with it. We did look at a conversion, but didn't like the back end being so low. What we do have is a little clumsy, but works well.
We have two four foot ramps which we use end to end with a box in the middle. We did try one four foot ramp, but the angle was a bit too steep for the scooter, and it grounded in the middle. We got the ramps new on Ebay for about £55 each.
You do need 8 feet behind the van, and it takes a couple of minutes to set up, but we don't use it much. It's just a backup, as I can't afford to be without the scooter.
The back seats in the Multispace fold in moments, and the scooter fits in nicely with them folded. If you need more room, they unclip and come out easily. Of course, you then need somewhere to put them.
Just as an afterthought, with a wheelchair you may be able to manage with one ramp. Otherwise there are lots of conversions for sale, and I'm sure you could get one through Motability.
