For - If you have an accident(hopefully never) emergency services can see inside easily.
Against - If you stop at service stations all the contents are on full view.
Closed:
For: - less hassle when taking out of storage (opening them), protection from sunlight, less movement on the blind rollers/tracks making them last longer.
Open for us.
The stuff that's on show in van when travelling isn't that appealing to most- large plastic tubs filled with shoes, and the last minute remembered coats just lobbed over the carefully packed boxes on the floor....

Good points Bertie having never stopped i can see your point but,if i did,i would leave the wife watching the van..
Just asked one of my lads who is a fire fighter about caravans in accidents and he says dont matter if curtains open or closed they know what to expect..
You travel with the blinds open because if you don't, and you bump along, that may just cause them to unroll open at a rate that may damage the springs. That just means an expense to get them corrected. Think about it, when you open the blinds in a morning do you release them and just let them go or take care opening them?
