The newbie caravanner here again after more advice! I pick my van up on Sat 20 April! So excited!
We have a payload of 153kg to play with. According to the manufacturer's details, the gas bottle is included in the unladen weight but the leisure battery isn't. We have two lightweight gas bottles. How much would I need to allow for the other gas bottle please?
Another question-the van is fitted with a mover so I understand that we need to add that into our payload. Would 40kg be enough there? I am also thinking 30kg for the leisure battery? We have some chairs to stick in somewhere too!
I assume things it came with, eg the microwave would be included in the unladen? Is that correct?
The other question I have is regarding bikes. I would like to take two adult and two children's bikes which I know I need to allow in the payload if we take them in the van. The only thing I am unsure about is how to load them so they don't damage the van, which is not quite a year old yet!! I understand they need to go over the axle. I have read reviews on Carabike racks. Does anybody have Ny experience with these please?
Sorry for all the questions again. All the answers are gradualy getting stored in the memory!!
Thanks

Just for the record the empty weight of my is excludluding the spare wheel, gas bottle and battery. This was clarrified by coachman.
if your unsure take your carvan to a weight bridge and weigh it leave the battery in, that should give you your start weight then you'll know exactly what you,ve got to play with. as the sheet above shows it's very easy to tot the weight up.
i took my van to a weigh bridge before we went on holiday once and found we were 70kg over and that was before i planned to put 4 bikes in. The promted the sheet and a bike rack
Thanks all. Whatever my set up has been, I have always had issues trying to transport the bikes! We love going cycling as a family and this forms a large part of our holiday.
I guess we will just take the children's bikes then and hire the adults.
I will find a weighbridge local to us as I am interested exactly how much the van does weigh.
From what I read somewhere, the unladen ysed to include the leisure battery and not the gas bottle but now it is round the other way.

Thats my point my list is at 138 kg with out clothes and as we holiday in this country its 4 x warm weather stuff and 4 x artic clothes. The 10kg of food is just tinned food ie beans soup hotdogs so no real meals.
I would put the bikes on the roof of the car and not in the van. I little less fuel efficient but far better for weight ratio's and stability. I carry 4 on the roof and my latest van had a 2 bike rack on the rear of the van but didn't fancy and extra 30kgs hanging all the way out back and swinging around. Personally if you are new to towing don't but them on the back of van even if manufacturer says you can IMO.
Part of the fun is getting it all in, We are lucky with our van as we have a 250 kgs payload. We also struggle with the bikes, so only take then when really necessary, normally however just take the childrens bike (7yr old) or scooter, and 1 mountain bike (adult). Mountain bike weights 14kgs and 7yrs 8kgs. Its really amazing though how soon it mounts up.
I've seen the list before and I am sceptical about some Id the figures. 4kg for an empty aquaroll? A quilt and 4 pillows 9kg? Someone must have an uncomfortable bed.
The only way to be absolutely sure how much everything weighs is to invest in a good set of scales and literally weigh everything you put in the van.
To double check, I would suggest going to a local weighbridge to double check the weights as if you are over the vans MTPLM and get pulled by the police you can get into some serious bother and you also invalidate your insurance and any warrenty, which wouldn't be a good start to your holiday!
