Hi
Tomorrow we are going to see a 5 berth 2009 lunar Zenith? It's a private sale for 7k.
Does anybody have one or know much about them? Are they good vans?
This will be our first van so we are going armed with a damp meter as advised on here!
All comments gratefully received
Thanks
Julia

I had the 2008-9 Zenith 6. It was a good van but with the prime mover for its design being light weight. What we loved about it was the airy feel to the van. Lighter colours with space at head height and three Heki's is something that Luner do right. Our van was reliable and very dry. Always a joy to use.

On the downside ours had foam cushioning not sprung. We needed a mattress topper to make the front bench double bed viable. The van had average storage space. The materials used inside are reflective of the Very light weight nature of the van. Ours had a MTPLM of 1300 kg. For a six berth that's pretty good but comes at a cost.

We only had one problem in the two years we owned this which was the switches on the nordelectric consumer unit. The issues with these units normally cost between £30-90 to repair, so not the end of the world. Not all of these vans had this unit.

For stability whilst towing ours was was excellent.

We chopped ours in and the vender put it on the fourcourt for £8995 last November from memory so your price looks pretty good especially if you can knock them down a little.

We had a lunar zenith four, it was a good van, and we chose it as being lightweight the car we had at the time could tow it, it isn't all singing and dancing but it has everything you need, towing was a breeze with it, nice and light inside and felt airy even though the loo ect was ooposite the sink, which can sometimes make some vans feel like a tunnel, this never felt like that, also we didn't have a mover on ours and it was easy to handle.
The only problem we found , was as above the seats were not very comfy when made up into the bed, and an issue with the element in the water heater, but ours was a 2006 though so it may be better in the later models.
But it was a good van and suited us at the time, can't really fault them for build construction either, you can see where they keep the weight down by the materials used, but this doesn't detract from the overall look and feel of the van.
Hope all goes well for you tomorrow :)

Thanks for your info. We need lightweight due to the car we have. One of the main things someone said to me was make sure you make up the bed and lay on it as you don't want an uncomfortable bed and from what you've both said, it sounds like it might be uncomfortable!!
I'll let you know what we think
Thanks!!

Once we a decent topper on it, it was fine, but if this is an issue for you then you can have sprung units made up for the front. We considered this but then decided to upscale our van and car due to the growth rate of our kids.

I like all the additions of our new van has a max loaded weight of 1640kg so additions all come at a cost with weight. That being said there are an enormous amount of middle ground and weight vans out there.

You don't say what vehicle you have. What is the max weight you can go to with it?

We've got a vectra 2.2. Think we can tow up to about 1350.
We'd love an adria with fixed bunks but hardly any about. We did start looking at rangers but people on here put us off as they have so many issues esp damp

I've just had a look at some pics of one, if yours is the one with the end fixed bed, it should be a standard mattress which is fine for sleeping on.

The price of the one I'm looking at is £8695.00.

On our z6 you had to make up the front bench seats for a double bed. With a fixed bed you shouldn't have these issues.

No it's not a fixed bed - we don't want a fixed bed.

It's in eBay but I don't know how to put the link on here

The advert doesn't mention any service history, it might be worth trying to haggle the cost of a service off the price if it hasn't been serviced recently.

I'd budget for around £200 but you would probably get a local MCEA chap a bit cheaper than that without the hassle of having to take it to a workshop and collect it later. You'd also be able to see what he was doing and ask questions.

It just seems odd that the caravan is a 1 owner outfit so presumably it has been serviced to keep the warranty. Perhaps he has just forgotten to mention the servicing but it's certainly worth asking about the service history.

I'm not sure what year the warranties became transferable on Lunars. It was from memory either 2009 or 2010. Either way, without the proper history would be invalid.

Ours wasn't transferable when we brought it but we received cover from the vender. But the difference is we paid £9500.00

There are some fixed bed Adria vans on caravan finder at the moment Julia. If you search for Adria and go to about page 11 you should find them.
Best of luck.

The can was really nice but there was something about the guy I didn't trust. He wanted cash in collection, no bank transfer. We've seen a 2002 lunar solar eclipse for £4600 with a motor mover which we quite like, it's in really good condition and we know the owners. Do you think we'd get 5 years out of a 2002 if the damp readings are good. I don't think it has damp - doesn't look like it or smell at all.
Thanks
Julia
