Has it got glass windows and a B&B chassis? If so it sounds like 1980.

No electrics makes it sound like 1980ish, are the plastic windows single glazed rather than double? Double glazed became more common after about 1982.

Try ebay or google for 1980 Sprite caravans and see if they look similar, it might give an idea of value as well.

Hi,

I've got a 1980 Sprite Alpine C. It has plastic windows and the saloon/double bed is at the rear with a bunk bed/ two seat table across the front.

I believe that in 1981 the layout was reversed front/back according to the extract I read from Andrew Jenkinson's Story of Sprite Caravans.

Looking through E-Bay at completed listings £300-500 seems to be the sort of range, BTW there are a few for sale in South Africa where asking prices are around £900-1000!!

You might want to consider advertising it on a Classic Car forum as Classic Car owners sometimes want a period caravan to go with their car.

I will be giving ours a go over shortly so as to decide what to do with it. It has been static on our allotment for a few years and now that we run French registered cars we would need to get it registered to be able to use it here in France and that will probably cost more than the 'van is worth.

I have a user manual, plus manuals for the fridge and gas hob/grill so if you want any information I could have a go at scanning them and e-mailing them.

Best of luck,

Grahame.

Glass was outlawed in 1978 so plastic windows became mandatory after 78. I'd expect then it was a 1980 van

After lack of use, it might be wise to check for rust on the shafts of the shock absorbers, lack of use allows rust to form and when put back into use the rust destroys the oil seals and ruins the shockers!

Hi i was asked for my serial number for the 1986 Sprite
Alpine Ci Caravan off the insurance company. As i'm new to owning a caravan
i don't know where to find it. I looked on the plate by handbrake and found
this if it helps.
TYP=KF 7,5   AUSF= C   VON=375KG   BIS=750KG        ZUI,STUTZLAST=75KG
M=1435   BAU.NR=P21   EG-PRUF-PROTOKOLL-NR 361-089-80.
Am i right thinking the last number
would be the one i'm looking for?. Many thanks

Hi there I appreciate that this post is a few years old now but I'm trying to get the manual for my 1980'ish ci sprite. We acquired it in a poor condition and spent the last 6 months renovating it. It now looks amazing inside, just the outside to go. However we are looking at getting an awning for it and are trying to get the measurements for it. Wasntbtf you mentioned you might have the manual for it. If this is still the case could I possibly get a copy of this please?

Any help gratefully received as we are new to this. Last outing was our very first but definitely not our last :)

If you can't find the awning size, you could measure the ground to ground length (via the awning rail) of a length of cord, washing line etc as here.
