Hi All, I have just been looking into changing my blue calor gas 7kg bottle to calor lite bottles. However the dealer I went to (who doesn't stock BP as Calor won't let them) recommended going to BP. His reasoning was simply that the calor lites are a nightmare to get hold of. Plus you can't swap the old bottle for it either. Also with the BP you can see the gas etc. and Homebase stock them so easier to get to if away on holiday.
Anyone used the BP bottles. Obviously it is cheaper to buy the 10kg, which is huge but would fit in the locker box. I was thinking of getting a 10kg and a 5kg for the cadac.
Is it worth it? Will cost me more to change to new bottles.

Do you mean you can't swap a 7kg butane for a Calor Lite? See here
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

Thanks Blue, but some places seem to agree with this and others point blankly refuse!
Yes I use the BP gas bottles and like them very much.
Homebases current price for the 10 kg one is £65 inclusive of bottle or I believe £33 for a refill. Thus making the bottle charge £32.
However wait till its a 15% off weekend when you can buy in at £55.25.
I find that off 15% day I can exchange for £30 via an independent, though if you can wait for Homebases 15% off weekend a refill cost just £28.05. Play the system.
Also they use a 27 mm clip-on adaptor so no spanner involved. This 27 mm is also the right size for the french Le Cube bottles so if travelling and you run out all you need to do is rent a bottle over there not worry about it. If intending this last trick buy the 27 mm with the top elbow take off [ there is a staight one also] as it is needed to clear the Le Cube bottle.
I have two 10kg which I picked up from a car boot for £40, they are very light as I carried one in each hand back to the car and did not notice that one was full and the other half full.
The pigtail also fits a Spanish gas bottle regulator as well.
I don't use then anymore as I have a tank under the Panel van conversion and take Spanish bottles to Spain.
I have read that BP are pulling out of the bottled gas market, they are trying to sell this part of their business but ultimately if a buyer can't be found then BP Light might disappear from the market, article.
Might be better off considering Calorlite. I have found it easy to exchange a blue butane bottle for aCalorlite at the large Calor centres.

That happened last year, the new company is called MacGas, who are owned by DCC, the same people who own FloGas, and a lot of other fuel companies in their portfolio.
I considered BP Gaslite, but dismissed them due to the odd ball connector. Calor lite has the same connection as every other propane bottle on the UK market
If it's "standard", which other bottles does it fit? Not any standard Calor/Flogas/etc bottle, as they all have the standard left hand female thread in the bottle valve

Calor Patio Gas has 27 mm clip on and Flogas Leisure gas also has a 27 mm clip on fitting.
Yes, that's right, Calor Patio Gas 5 and 13 kg, Flogas Leisure Gas 11kg, BP Gas Lite 5 and 10kg, French Le Cube gas. It's the standard regulator supplied with nearly all BBQs, patio heaters, etc.
We have a selection of bottles, so have a selection of regulators, but use some quick release connectors from ebay to change between different bottles on different appliances.
