 HI CAMPERS

Just had the final nail in the coffin today, we purchased a new clubman eb in 2008. On its 2nd service, damp was found in roof and was repaired, 3rd service we lost a weeks holiday due to service taking two weeks, 4th service damp was found in the toilet/shower. We were told we had a six year warranty then to be told we only had three years. Dealer said they would repair. We decided to part exchange the van this year and go back to motorhoming so did not service the van (this month) We have found the motorhome we want and took our part exchange in to dealer today. Yes, you guessed it, they found damp around last years work and now damp on other side of van under the bed. this has cost us over a £1000 on the deal. We will never have a good word to say for luna caravans.  Buyers beware!

P.S. Have had a good look around on google and we are one of many

Yep but there not the only vans that can leak , my previous 2009 & 2006 Bailey Pageants both leaked and yet my leaky Lunar is still dry as a bone and just had its 3rd service with no issues

Sorry that you had a bad experience, but every manufacturer has damp issues at various times. Lunar are no better or worse than any others. In fact, currently Swift have a major recall due to damp issues in their vans. You can't damn a manufacturer due to one or two peoples bad experiences.

Sorry but how do you know there are lots of unhappy Lunar owners .

You only ever from the owners who do have problems but there are many more who do not

Just because you've been unlucky with a badly put together van it does not meean there all shoddily made .

Lunar are no better or worse than any of the rest , try looking at how many new model Swifts or Bailey or Coachman's have faults .

Buying a new caravan or motorhome is a lottery , you may get a good one with no faults but you cant guarantee it .

p.s  I do hope your Swift Motorhome gives you good service , but I would be doubly sure the floor is Ok as there have been many Swift MH's with delamination and damp sodden floors .

A well known talked about fact on the Swift Forums 17 17

feel for you but unfortunately thats the nature of the beast with uk built caravans these days.
weve finally thrown in the towel with our alutech bailey and it goes at the weekend . nothing but problems from day 1 im afraid
cant be bothered on spending £16K + on a lottery ticket so more than likely thats caravanning done with for us for the foreseeable.
hope you have better luck with your motorhome

Can anyone beat this though with any make of caravan? Ours is a 2010 Luna Lexon which we bought new, we've had 4 issues of damp being found plus a worktop which started to move away from the wall. But the last straw was last summer. We'd had it 2.5 yrs and noticed as you walked in the shower room on an area of the floor you couldn't miss standing on it started to 'give'. My husband thought ' delamination', he checked underneath and found a 12 X 12 inch square hole which had been cut in the floor in the wrong place by mistake and then patched up. Contacted Luna and they couldn't understand why it was cut out as the hole wouldn't have suited any layout they made. They replaced
the floor but will not have another Luna because that hole was just an outrageous mistake.

We have 2009 Lunar and its dry. We did have a minor leak but that was the heater outlet which for some reason they fitted inside the shower cabinet and they hadn't siliconed it well enough - a known problem apparently. Fortunately we have a great dealer in Leisure Sales who I'd buy from again who got it all fixed by Lunar free of charge and no further problems. Would I buy another Lunar not so sure, I think I'd probably go for a Coachman.

well- we have freinds who have a 2012 Lunar, damp on first service, more damp found on inspection, more damp found on second inspection, still going on, no solution, friends very naffed off as they cannot use it but are still paying for it, would never advise anyone to go to Lunar-customer service has been appalling.

We were lucky we never had damp issues and had a relatively stress free time with our vans. However, now we have sold up I cannot see us owning one again. Too many faults in today's vans. Our 2004 van seemed to be far better made than our friends' 2008 version of the same van which has had quite a few issues.

We would love a nice new van and looked at lunar's. however all the stories of damp fills me with dread!!! I think the best option is to stick with out 1999 abbey vogue which is dry as a bone!

what amazes me is every one and i mean every one involed in uk caravaning know about ,as or has heard of Damp in fairly new british manufactured caravans , and yet customers still buy them so why should the industry care , the only time this will be solved for good is when the great british caravaners stop buying new models and one or two manufactures go bust , then something might be done ,untill then any one who spends a substantial amount on a new caravan cant really complain to much ,because unless they live on the moon they must be aware this is possible yet still part with their cash
