Well weve sold our beloved Elddis for a number of reasons and decided to go back to a smaller single axle fixed bed layout. We are picking a Unicorn series 2 Valencia up on Saturday and I hope we are luckier with this one than the Barcelona series 1! Im feeling happy but anxious and hope weve made the right choice? We really like the interior of the Unicorn 2 and weve opted for the optional Rossini fabric.
Anyone got one?

Got rid of our fixed bed after realising we were sacrificing living area for twin beds we just use at night.
Now got a 2 berth with a larger living area and bathroom in a smaller length. 5 minutes to put beds out.
Don't know why we didn't do it 10 years ago!
Good job we are all different.

Yes we have had a few over the years, we have gone back to Bailey which I said I would never touch again but hey ho never say never!! We decided to get rid of the big twin axle as it was proving to be a pain booking sites abroad and even in UK we would arrive on site and pitches weren't big enough, even with prior warning its happened so many times to us!
We couldn't adjust to the bunks layout, even with 2 children we weren't enjoying the van at all, I like to have a ly down and chillout on the bed during the day and it wasn't happening in the Elddis, plus, we are considering changing the car so wanted a lighter van, theres not many cars can tow the Crusaders as they are very heavy vans.
The guy who bought the van was chuffed as his set on fire a couple of weeks ago and wanted the same van, as it was a special edition Diamond Jubilee he couldn't get a replacement as they aren't making them anymore. Weve ended up not losing on the van as weve got the Unicorn reduced as they are getting rid to make way for 2014 models so that's why we changed.
I said I wouldn't have another Bailey after our Barcelona, but, we really like the series 2 Unicorns, I just hope its big enough, if it isn't we will buy one of those new inflatable awnings they look really good.

We had a two berth with end bathroom, and always make up the settees as two single beds. Now in our late 70's, making up the beds did seem a bit of a chore.
So we looked at the short settees and twin bed layout.
Deciding that this purpose-made bed situation was wasteful, we opted for long settees-cum-single beds, dinette, and good sized end bathroom.

We are now glad we did, because another camping couple showed us their Duvulay duvets and memory foam mattresses which fit into purpose-made sheets. These reduce bedmaking to about one minute per bed, and this is the way we have gone.
Bertie.

Our last two vans had fixed beds and now have changed to a motorhome with a fixed bed. Its so much easier also if one of us wants to stay up late the other just toddles off to bed no problem

Swore as the day is long I'd never have a fixed bed, then when the son got older and would rather stay at home we bought one......will never go back again to making a bed up, the fixed bed is the best thing we've ever had. Put the covers on before we leave, arrive set up, if its been a long journey have a snooze as the bed is ready and waiting ,but we love ours. I don't see it as loosing space, I think there's ample room for us two and the two dogs. Maybe not as good if you've got a couple of kids. But horses for courses, what suits one may not suit another.

Went from fixed double to fixed singles. With a pegasus Rimini no complaints so far enjoying the new van immensely. Plenty of room for us both and the grand kids too.

Except for our first caravan, we have always had fixed beds. I can't understand the room thing as surely you don't spend all day in the caravan looking at how much less room you have.

We are picking it up tomorrow and I cant wait to spend my first night in France in it. The bed may be smaller than sleeping at the front but its a lot more comfortable and I don't care about the living space, I just want my bed back!

..... and if you are 6 foot 3 like me you need to chop your legs off, or so the manufacturers seem to think.
