Just wondering what people considered to be fair prices for pitches. I understand it varies from site to site depending on facilities available etc. but wondered what people find acceptable. Unless I am looking in the wrong place, prices seem very expensive. Eg-small farm site (5 pitches) at £26/night.
Maybe it's me, expecting too much again.
You don't say what's in your party Lots of site base their prices on two adults, so you have to pay extra for awnings, kids, dogs, EHU etc, which can soon bump up the price.
For 2 adults on a larger full facility site i would go up to around £25 in peak season, for a 5 van site, with toilets/showers and EHU I would not expect to pay over £15, and many only charge £12.
If only EHU and toilet, I would not pay more than £12.

Pitch prices on a 5 van site do not usually charge extras for kids, dogs, awnings etc.
Quite a few CC CLs do charge extra if you are more than 2 adults. An extra £1 or £2 per adult, less for kids. And quite often an awning can be an extra £1 or £2.
It depends where youre looking I suppose. We use a lot of 5 van sites and never paid more than £15 - average about £12. In fact on any other site we use we pay an average of £20 and if it's an expensive site in peak season £25.
Don't mind the pitch price most of the time,What I do object to is dog friendly?? sites charging up to £5 per dog per night in the high season,I have two small dogs so would pay £70 extra per week if I were silly enough to pay it
Our weekend site at Ebury hill is £12 a night with ehu but no facilities apart from pot washing. But we're off to New quay in wales at the end of the month at £27 pet night, this site has all facilities including mains water and is by the sea..... You get what you pay for

I own a caravan that comes with "all facilities" and I am fairly sure I could find a site that is "by the sea".
So the idea of paying another £13 a night just to get mains water rather than filling my water butt every 4 or 5 days simply does not register with me.
The OP was asking about 5 van sites and we have stayed on some superb such sites, far better than those purporting to be "all facility" ones.
Personally we have found that most 5 van sites are run by people who really care about their sites, are friendly towards their customers and are genuinely pleased that you have chosen to stay with them. I do not find the same on larger sites.
So I guess it all comes down to what "all facilities" one is looking for on a campsite.
As we have already paid for "all" our facilities when we bought the van, we don't see the point of paying out again for the campsite to supply them again. All we want is a pitch for the night in an area that is worth exploring. For us a basic 5 van site with EHU will give us all we require.
And, ofcourse, by its very nature of not have all facilities and is usually sited way out in the country, is probably a nice quiet site and an ideal place to relax after a days touring and sightseeing.
the croft at Houghton le spring in tyne n wear £12 a night awnings free ehu in with the price one of the best sites I have ever being to it is c&cc site no dogs as is on a small holding
We like to have our own fresh water supply as well as ehu. So far this season we have been on excellent pitches with these facilities from £14 to £27 a night, and have booked a superb pitch in peak summer time for £32 a night.
Most expensive we have found so far this season (not booked and not likely to be either!) is Sandy Balls at £52.50 per night!
Close to us last weekend on our £14 a night fully serviced pitch was a C&CC rally in a bare field for £7 a night to members.

How do you get 4 days out of a water container? Even without showering or washing up in my van I can only make a day from 40L of water.
As to the prices we mainly visit more commercial sites to gain the kids entertainment facilities. The prices are higher but not drastically so especially if you have a large family. Going for 7 nights in August to a very large well equipment site with 5 kids for £294. That's £42 a day inc 16A ehu, passes, swimming pool etc for 7.
Looking at some of the club sites we'd be paying around £30 a night for nothing more than ehu, toilet/shower block and a field.
Next week we are going to a Park Resorts site, again quite big with loads to do. £40 for 5 nights inc. ehu. Got the deal from groupon. Amazing for a week in the kids holidays!
Also got another 4 night deal for groupon to take after the school hols. £25 for 4 nights inc. ehu and club passes. That's cheaper than a single night at many sites.
